obsessed with the song from the 'antique music box'
from music box gyroid scavenger hunt event. vid is from march. not sure if i tagged this right, i'm new here haha
i'm genuinely entranced by this song. when it was on sale i'd open craft menu just so i could preview and listen to it. i'd let it loop over and over. then i recorded it before it went off-sale. every time i come across this screenrecording i feel compelled to replay it 5-6 times. i'm surprised that there's no recording of the whole thing uploaded anywhere, at least not one i can find. is this not used in any other ac games?
to me the tune is somewhat reminiscent of tatsuro yamashita's work, specifically "ride on time". laid-back, bright, almost summer-y feel. there's a part of the song where he sings something that sounds EXACTLY like the intro to the music box. it also reminds me of piero piccioni's music. nostalgic, melancholic, vintage film music. there's this part of "amore mio aiutami (main theme)" that sounds really similar to parts of the music box tune. idk if you listen to the songs i think you'll understand what i mean.
i've played this game for years but i only started listening to unique item sounds this year, mostly cus i tend to play with music off. but wow, this combines some of my favorite aspects of some of my favorite kinds of music i'm sort of in awe of how like.. curated to my tastes this is? soft, cheerful yet bittersweet, and symphonic in a way. like if you think really hard about it
sorry for being so overdramatic but yeah. i really, really like this song.
edit: okay so it has come to my attention that this is k.k moody. it's been a while since i've listened to all of the airchecks so i totally forgot what it sounded like. kind of crazy how putting it in music box form completely changed its vibe but in hindsight a lot of the romantic latin songs i've listened to have similar qualities to the songs i've listed above. and perhaps even inspired said songs.. or at least i know piero piccioni was inspired by latin music for a lot of his work.
k.k moody's melody is very similar to that of the bolero "sabor a mí", so i've been listening to a lot of that. i like luis miguel and trio los panchos versions.
ty everyone who let me know, gave me a new song to obsess over. the songs played on the music boxes r also listed on the nookipedia apparently so i feel kind of dumb for being stumped for so long lol but better late than never
