Bench / Old Mix Freebies

After inventorying my seed collection, I discovered I have a massive pile of old, odds & ends, and stuff I know I am not growing again for whatever reason. Since I grow for my farm, I have to have pretty predictable germination above 90%. This pile is a mix of germination rates likely in the 10 -75% range. So I am giving them away free!

SASE - I'll fill up to a padded envelope with stuff. I don't have specific varieties listed, but if you indicate types you'd love (tomatoes, broccoli, flowers, salsa garden, etc), I'll throw together a fun mix for you.

2027 Trade List - Sunpoprain

After almost 5 weeks of inventorying seeds (and doing some last minute purchases + collecting) I am finally organized enough to open up for trades! Check the "For Trade" sheet to see what I have available (more than 150 entries!) and the "Full Inventory 2027" to see if I have something already.

Sunpoprain 2027 SeedSwap Trade List

My wants are listed by category. If it's a named cultivar in a wants section, I am very motivated to get it. Broadly I like heirlooms with strong culinary use and/or history. I especially am a sucker for tomatoes and peppers. Because I grow these on my farm (and for a big plant sale!), I am generally looking for very reliable seeds. I really like small seed providers like Kids Seed Co, Adaptive Seeds, North Circle Seeds, Umjaa, etc and high production quality seed providers like Johnnys, Osborne, High Mowing, Territorial, etc.

Seeds that are large (beans, some squash, peas, etc) are expensive to mail. If you want something large, I ask that we have a minimum of 6 matched trades, to make it worth the cost of the bigger packaging.

My trade window for round 1 will only be open until November 10th.

I will then re-evaluate and likely open another round of trades sometime in January.

Ask an Expert: Sunpoprain (Seedswap's lead mod for the last almost 18 years!)

Trying something a little new! I have been growing, gardening, seed saving, swapping, and farming for 25+ years. In that time I have accumulated a lot of information. In my real life, I frequently teach classes and workshops around food & gardening. This is my attempt to offer up all my accumulated knowledge to my favorite subreddit. You ask, I'll answer. If you stump me, I'll go find an answer. The door is open and I am here to help.

P.s. I KNOW some of you have amazing niche and broad knowledge as well. If you'd like to volunteer to be the Expert for another Ask An Expert post, let me know! I would love to run these semi-regularly.
