Advice for Cold Emails and Potential Programs?
I’ve reached out to about 10 PIs via cold emails and only two have gotten back to me (last one 2 weeks ago) and they both said they aren’t taking students due to funding issues. Does anyone have advice for emailing PIs and are other people running into the same funding issues already? I’m also wondering if folks have recommendations for programs, it’s a lot to sift through every PI at every program at a dozen schools and I’m feeling a little overwhelmed.
For context, I’m graduating in May with a MS in pharmaceutical sciences looking to transition into cancer immunotherapies and/or nanomedicine. I really enjoy biochem and molecular bio lab work and would prefer to avoid rodent models. I am beginning to realize that is probably a problem for immunotherapies. I know it seems silly but they are my version of spiders and snakes! I have a 4.0 from my MS, worked as a RA for a year at a university, won a presentation award at an international conference, and have a first author paper that made the front cover of that month’s issue. Thank you in advance, if you can’t tell I’ve been pretty stressed about this.
