Reconstruction after failed release

This is a long one but pleaaassse read 🥺😭 (26F) got a dequervains release surgery a little over a year ago after dealing with it for a number of years. Before my surgery I suffered from atrophy as they gave me too many steroid shots. After all of the shots and oral steroids I gave up and gave in to surgery. I should’ve asked more questions and part of that may be on me but my Dr also did not explain much either. Fresh out of surgery my entire hand was numb. Okay, typical right? No. It didn’t go away for a month. While the feeling in the rest of my hand eventually came back the feeling in my thumb did not. This numbness radiates into my forearm along my radial nerve. Had an emg comes back seemingly normal. Whatever. A full year later im still in pain, still numb, now developing a tremor and still zero answers or any post surgery scans ordered. I was told that there was nothing they could do for any of the things that I was experiencing and everything from my previous emg was fine. I go and get a second opinion after I overheard some crazy shit that my doctor said, took the new doctor five minutes to figure it out. Ordered scans which confirmed he was right. My tendon is completely unstable and moving around all through my thumb side of the wrist, nerve damage, and advanced dequervains. My Dr is now recommending a total reconstruction of my first dorsal compartment. LOVELY. At the very least 3 month recovery. Im not going to get into detail about how I think my hand surgeon has completely dropped the ball with my case. I genuinely think there was an error during my surgery ( I asked my doctor if this could be the case and he did not want to answer). Has anyone else had this happen to them? Have you had the surgery? If so, what was recovery like? Did your doctor give you a reason as why this could’ve happened? Did it get better? If you are a doctor and are reading this, how often have you seen this? And yes I know I could ask my doctor these questions but I would like outside perspectives. Please help a girl out, I started cosmetology school (before the tremor) since I had the go ahead from my doctor and well, now im here and worried about my future will look like.

Unstable tendons

Has anyone here experienced unstable tendons?

Ive been fighting with my hand surgeon for a little over a year now telling him something is not right. I’ve been dealing with numbness, pain, twitching, snapping in the wrist, and limited strength since I had surgery. I saw a second opinion today and it took him five minutes to figure out that my tendons are essentially jacked. He said if I want to fix it im going to have to get surgery. Problem is im supposed to go back to school and get my esthetician license.

Has anyone had a revision surgery after dequervains release for unstable tendons? What was your recovery like? How long did it take to recover.

I’m 1+ year post-surgery with lingering thumb numbness and a new uncomfortable twitch at the incision site. My care team has been incredibly dismissive since right after surgery —I actually overheard them talking poorly about patients’ honesty about their conditions—and they refuse to investigate further. They just tell me theres nothing they can do for me.
I’m looking for a new doctor, but in the meantime, has anyone else dealt with this? Did it turn out to be nerve damage or something else? Did your doctors find a solution? Im a little worried and also about to start beauty school and need my hand to be 100%

I had surgery for my dequervains just a little over a year ago after they found I had severe atrophy from one too many cortisone shots and pushing off surgery. from the day I got out of surgery my hand was completely numb. I went to the doctor multiple times for this issue after it persisted past the first week post op. I asked them if my cast could’ve been too tight they said no. Loosened it slightly and nothing more. Fast forward to when I got my cast off my thumb and index finger still completely numb. Gradually rhe feeling in my index finger came back but never my thumb. I had severe issues with sensitivity within my surgical incision site and a complete lack of range of motion. I went to occupational therapy for well over 6 months once a week. After my insurance said they wouldn’t cover anything else because I was not seeing nearly any improvement I got kicked out. They did a nerve study, ultra sounds and a few other tests to see why I was still numb and having no sensation in my thumb or by my surgical scar. Nothing came of any of them. I still have issues with numbness and am also being seen for issues with the discs in my neck which has no relation to what is going on with my hand. I genuinely feel at some point somewhere something went wrong with my surgery as I was told that recovery would be cake and I should only have one follow up appointment after. A year later i have now developed a twitch that stems at my surgical scar and all the way to the tip of my thumb. Nor has my strength come back. It drives me insane and I feel as though my doctor thinks I’ve been completely full of shit since the start. Has anyone else had this issue or found a solution to any of this?
