A few of my friends have used this when it’s just a single camera exam but I’m a bit nervous. They set up there laptop on a stand to create a blind spot where they can use there phone to take pics and chat gpt the answers while still showing there face. Anyone have experience doing this?

I’ve taken a lot of online classes, including upper level engineering courses with proctored exams. People always assume online = easy or that you can just cheat your way through it. I honestly don’t buy that.
Once you get into high-level classes, cheating doesn’t really help. You either understand the material or you don’t. Proctors might stop obvious stuff, but they don’t magically make exams easier or harder they mostly protect the credibility of the degree.
So I’m curious what people actually think:
Are proctored exams really necessary, or are they just there to make institutions (and employers) feel better?
Do they level the playing field, or just add stress for students who were going to do the work anyway?
Would love to hear different perspectives.

I was retaking my RLA test today and Im so frustrated!! Because the proctor keep on warning me, and I couldn't focus,the first thing they said was to take my jacket hood off then I did and also apologized, the second warning was, while Im doing my Extended response, They said that I should keep my eyes on the monitor, and I explained that I was only looking at the keyboard because Im not used to using computer keyboards, so I avoided that.
Lastly they said that they noticed that I was using my cellphone!!! Like wth! I said that Im not, and my phone was far away from me, tjen they asked again what other device was Im using! So I showed them the keyboard and the mouse that I was using fo andI asked if is there something wrong,
after that I couldn't even focus on the test!!!!!! Im so frustrated right now hopefully in Gods grace I will still pass.

So I had a midterm through ProctorU and halfway through, the proctor interrupted me and accused me of being on my phone. For context: I had did the room check and my phone was in the room, but I had placed it across the room away from me and face down before the exam started. I showed him where it was, and he confirmed the spot was okay. I never left my seat or touched it.
He suddenly ended my session mid-exam, said I couldn’t have my phone “near me,” and made me get up and re-show him that it was still in the exact same place he had already approved.
The interruption stressed me out so badly and completely broke my focus. Now my instructor says ProctorU is sending them the video and there will be an “investigation report” to decide if this was a breach of academic integrity. I’ve already emailed to explain my side, but I feel like I’m being treated as if I did something wrong when I didn’t.
Am I overreacting to be upset about this? Or is this actually as unfair as it feels?

They suspended the assessment because they saw me with the phone. An hour after the assessment I was able to scheduled for another test. Did I really mess everything up with stupid choice or will I be able to take it again

I finally found a completely stress-free way to clear online proctored exams, and I honestly still can't believe how smoothly it went.

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent nightmare with Pearson VUE’s online proctoring (OnVUE) and how I successfully fought back against their unfair revocation to get a free retake. Hopefully, this helps someone in the same boat!
The Incident: I was taking the AZ-700 exam via OnVUE. Out of nowhere, the proctor silently revoked my exam. No verbal warning, no calls. Apparently, they sent a message in the chat, but the OnVUE software glitched/froze, and the chat window never popped up. To make matters worse, this was going to be my last attempt, so I got hit with the Microsoft Retake Policy 1-year ban!
The Battle (Don't Accept 'No'): I immediately opened a ticket with Microsoft ESI Support. For weeks, they hit me with the classic copy-paste responses: "Pearson VUE investigated and decided the proctor followed the rules. Case closed." I refused to accept this. I fired back a highly technical email stating that their software failing to display the chat is NOT the candidate's fault. I demanded they escalate it above Pearson VUE to the Microsoft Senior Program Team. I explicitly told them I only want written communication moving forward to keep a paper trail.
The Victory: After 1 whole month of corporate chess and refusing to back down, Microsoft’s internal Senior Program Team stepped in, overruled Pearson VUE’s rejection, and issued me a voucher!
I immediately went to the scheduling page, applied the voucher alongside my existing student/ESI discount (yes, they stacked!), saw the total drop to $0.00, and scheduled my exam at a PHYSICAL TEST CENTER. My 5th attempt lock was magically bypassed.

Also, do you think I'd be able to take my exam in a library with a wall in front of me? The person watching could see behind me. The other option is at my apartment but I don't have any table that I could work from, so I'd be sitting on the floor and I've read that's also a problem. I'm taking a closed book exam but I'm allowed to have a scratch paper to write on.

Is there a reason no one has tried cheating by having another person sitting next to you - close enough to read the screen but out of view of the webcam, looking up answers and giving hand signals or something? This seems like the easiest method.
Anyone tried this? My friend is taking a multiple choice ProctorU test this week and was going to help them this way.
Does anyone know if ProctorU does a 360 scan?
If they do couldn't I just hide and then move into position so to speak once the scan is done?

Hey guys, I was supposed to have an Certified Solutions Architect Professional (SAP-C02) exam today but my proctor ended it 20 minutes before the start. I'm not sure what was the reason.
On the check-in process, I got a message on my phone that there's something wrong with uploading my passport photo and I need to go back to the desktop app. In the desktop app, I've seen a message like "your proctor ended your exam, please take a survey". I contacted the Pearson's OnVue support and it took about 20 minutes for them to create a support case. BTW, do they *always* ignore the details that you provide and just propose you to "try to restart"?
So, did someone have the same situation? Do I get it right that they'll offer me to reschedule my exam and it's going to be alright?
UPD: And yes, I had a chance to reschedule the exam myself a few minutes before the start but I received "I need a few more minutes to solve your problem" messages in the support chat and I hoped that they can help me. So if you are in the same situation as me, try to reschedule the exam in parallel with contacting the support - it seems to be more efficient

They definitely left for the bathroom for 12 minutes once the test was opened. Smug return. Fiddling with hoodie pocket but figured it was just their ever-present-but-well-hidden vape.

EDIT: 2 May 1617 So far I have learned that they can FREEZE THEIR SCREEN so GoGuardian doesn’t look like they’ve opened something else. As I was only looking at screen colors, this is definitely possible.
