Not a rant but I want to discuss callout procedures for ESS/Enriched employees.
It seems long term substitutes and regular substitutes have different call out procedures and neither are very clear. It also seems to differ between public and charter schools (at least in jax, fl)
I had taken a job a few months back and had a family emergency requiring me to leave school as soon as I got there, before any kids even arrived.
I told the school (obviously) and notified ess by ticket and called them directly.
A day later they emailed me that I had not correctly called out (a process they make intentionally vague and confusing, imo) and I apologized. They also told me next time I need documentation to prove why I was out and this one would be "waived" for me, as long as I read and confirmed I understood the policy. I did....for that role.
Now I am on a multiple day assignment at a charter school and called the secretary this a.m. because I woke up around 4:45 am puking. I've been nauseous all morning
By 6, I had texted her cuz i know her and know she is awake by then. I told her I was going to call ess and let them know but that they are notoriously difficult, to which she responded " don't worry I'll tell them, you feel better"
Now I worry the process is different for my long term role and I dont know it (again). I rarely get sick and with it being end of school year, I didnt expect to have to worry about this again.
I called the hr line, and the lady said she doesnt have access to the Charter school system, and for me to put in a ticket to "Enriched". So I did. I explained it all to them as well.
Now....I wait?
Anyone else have similar experiences?
I also asked in my ticket how am I supposed to submit documentation if my doctor isn't available today and it's just a stomach bug... So frustrating, especially when you're already SICK.
