iOS27, AI and Shortcuts

This might not be news to some folks but I read in iOS 27 "Apple Intelligence" will be able to build Shortcuts using natural language AI and prompts.

I don't know how many times I've read posts with folks wanting to have a very specific automation and bumping into a wall with Homekit tools.

"You can't do that in Homekit but it's easy if you build a Shortcut" Right. Easy if that's what you're into, baffling if you're not. What a great application of AI !. God love you folks that 'bake from scratch' but a lot of us don't have the time/motivation/smarts to do that ourselves.

A whole lot of AI stuff is jive, but in this case (and if it works) it's hard not to see the practicality. Seems like it would be a significant selling point for Apple and their HA space.

I'll be watching this closely.

I'm still having issues with a stuttering picture and sound sync from my AppleTV. I've posted about this over on the AppleTV sub before and a number of solutions were offered but none really worked. A few suggested I do an entire reset on the AppleTV box but I'm not too keen on rebuilding the entire home automation end of things.

What does seem to fix the problem is doing a System Restart on the Apple TV settings menu or simply Power Down/Power Up the box. I'm considering putting the AppleTV box on a smart plug, setting up an ON/OFF automation in the wee hours to Power Down/Power Up the box but as we know after it's powered down there's no automation to do a power up since the hub is "dead".

I do have a HomePod set up as the backup hub, so theoretically it takes over the automation when the AppleTV is down. My question is does/will the HomePod take over immediately or is there some kind of lag before it takes control of the system. If it's fairly quickly I could do an automation that cuts the power on the AppleTV at say 3:00am and powers up (via the HomePod that has taken control) at 3:05am.

Am I on to something?
