Guys any recommendations for something not crazy expensive please? I have a phone mount for my ZX6R but it's so big I can't see my speedometer lol
I got check engine light with code 39 on my 2014 zx6r. After some forum digging I figured it was battery (should've known, my battery was 4 years old) the error code comes translated as ECU Communication Error but it actually was battery.
I also was missing a nut that holds the valve on the servo (exhaust pipe side) and it was making some dragging noise so had to fix that too. Overall pretty productive day!
New battery is BS - YTX9
Just wanted to share with you guys Incase someone face this issue.
Anyone selling GSXR 750 please let me know.
Hi everyone,
Before I proceed just want to give you disclaimer:
I used AI chatbot to form this topic as my English is not good enough to properly explain.
I have a 2014 Kawasaki ZX-6R 636 KIBS (Japanese import) with around 42,000 km.
Yesterday I had a strange issue:
- FI/check engine light came of once I stsrt the bike (I think I didn't wait for the fuel to be primed)
- After turning the bike off and back on, the light disappeared.
- A few hours later the FI light came back and stayed on after starting.
- The bike still started, idled, and pulled normally with no loss of power or unusual noises.
- While turning slowly into my parking spot with the clutch fully pulled in, the engine suddenly shut off as if someone pressed the kill switch. The dash stayed on and did not reset.
- The bike restarted after 2-3 attempts and I got home.
- Today it starts immediately, the FI light only comes on during the normal key-on self-test and then goes out completely.
Other info:
- Coolant temperature reached 104°C in very hot weather/slow riding (I live in MENA region where temperatures are absurdly high)
- Coolant overflow bottle is below the LOW mark (haven't checked radiator level yet).
- Battery age is unknown.
- Spark plugs have unknown service history.
- I also remember seeing the FI light once before when the fuel level was very low.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Could this be a battery/charging issue, side stand switch, crank position sensor, exhaust valve servo, fuel pump/filter, or something else?
Any advice on what to check first would be greatly appreciated.

I see a lot of people jumping straight on inline 4s or some massive engine displacement bikes. With current fuel prices and generally for commuting or having fun in a city with all the speed cameras 125-250-400cc makes a lof of sense. People tend to come and give their two cents without even being asked how riding small displacement is a bad experience while in reality it is not.
