looking for good budget refurb laptop
I'm poor as hell so my M.O. has been refurbished school chromebooks/netbooks, and giving them linux mint.
my last one was a HP stream 11 pro g5; I loved it, aside from touchpad issues. but it got severely water damaged. I contacted a repair place and they pointed out I was trying to repair a laptop worth under $100. i said fair yeah.
but anyways I'm looking for recommendations for maybe a little bit of an upgrade from that.
- Country
US
- Budget
up to $120 i suppose. last one was $70 lol. theres wiggle room here, sometimes ebay refurbs have deals
- Are you open to refurbs/used options?
yes pretty much my only option
- Screen size
anything bigger than 10" is fine
- Weight limit
any
- Purpose
installing linux mint; half media center, just running VLC or streaming, half playing lightweight games like Balatro or Rimworld. occasional use for digital art
- Form factor
standard absolutely preferred. i dont like tablets, i dont like touchscreens. i have an HDMI display drawing tablet. i dont want any of that built in
- Intended usage
nothing too high intensity, mostly playing videos, internet, lightweight gaming, some digital art (krita), some writing
- Desired battery life
anything 6hrs or above would be fine
- Please list, in order of most important to least important, the priority between Size, Weight, Performance, Battery life
PRICE, DURABILITY
but anyways: performance, weight, battery life, size
- Info/Requirements
need HDMI port and at least one USB port, multiple is nice.
my wants are:
- not thin as hell... I appreciate school netbooks bc they tend to have those rubbery shells that stand up to a lot. I move these things around with me.
- at least 32gb storage, at least 4gb ram
- would be Nice if it had an easily removable battery
- would be Nice if it had a decent color profile. thing i didnt like about the HP stream is when I used it for digital art, everything was washed out.
other specs not super important, most resource intensive thing I do with these is play Rimworld. its hard to find sources on The Best of the Bottom Line. any recs are greatly appreciated.
