Apt test coming up

Hello! I’ll try to keep this short. Without going into too much detail, I feel like I lucked out and put in an application and already have an aptitude test scheduled in the very near future.

I’ve done a little browsing on the industry but I feel I haven’t done enough. For anonymity’s sake, I am not a young person. I’m between the ages of 25-45. I’ve been working in “healthcare” for over a decade. I’m in the US.

For the last 1-2 years or so, I’ve been really wanting to get away from healthcare. I decided I wanted to make a complete change in careers and also have a union backing me. I’ve never worked for a union but I’ve read up on the benefits. I had an ex coworker that is in his 5th year with the electrical union and it sounded like it was something I’d be interested in doing. I applied to the electrical union (IBEW) and took their aptitude test and passed. The last I spoke to them I was pretty far down the list. I didn’t even have an interview.

I felt my chances with the electrical union were very slim so I decided to look elsewhere. From what I’ve read, it’s pretty hard to secure a spot in the elevator union so that is why I’m making this post. I want to make it clear that I am very much interested in elevators and that this isn’t just a backup plan because the electrical union didn’t work out. I’m more of a hands-on learner and I feel the elevator trade is more specific if that makes any sense.

How can I increase my chances of passing the aptitude test? More importantly, how can I improve my chances of being successful in general? I know there are study guides but can anybody recommend any in particular? I really want this and I want to do the best I can.

I understand I will be starting at the bottom of the totem pole and will have to do grunt work. I am okay with that. I really want this and I feel like I got lucky with getting a spot to take the test.

Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for reading.

Where do you currently stand with S4?

Like others, I was SO excited when I heard the Skate 3 servers came back online after being down for years. This was well before they officially announced a new game. The servers coming online was enough hope for me to know that something was in the making.

Now, look at it today. Am I happy we have something over nothing? Sure. Do I want to admit that it is really nostalgia driving all the hype? Maybe.

Why are they not adding multiplayer modes? Why is it an online-only game? What is with almost every skin costing money? Why is Brickswich still not “open?” And many many more unanswered questions…

I want to support this game but where do you draw the line between supporting and blindly throwing your money away?

I’ve had Grom since day 1. Not because I “paid” for it but because I had over 1000 pink chips from accruing them over time. It was from when they gave them out free over bugs and other things early on and from trading blue chips for 50-100 pink chips here and there.

I’m not sure I would put up any real money to support this game. I want to but it seems they’re not listening to us. We all know they can see these comments so it’s very frustrating.

I still play the game. I haven’t completely gave up. I’m level 10 in all 3 areas and have opened every box. I’m somewhere around 17k rip score and I have ~100k each of both rip chips and blue tix. I have all weekly/monthly/OTL challenges complete with the exception of these new Zexy ones.

I’ll continue to get on each day and do the dailies and skate around until I get bored. I’m not sure how much longer I can do this. I think I would draw the line if they came out with another new area and it was behind a pay wall. We’ll see!

What are your feelings about the future of Skate 4?!
