Questions About Hydrogen SIBO Post-Antibiotics

Hi there, I’m recently diagnosed (as of two days ago) with 44.65 ppm Hydrogen SIBO after going to a GI for a slew of symptoms, inclusive of mild constipation (need coffee to get moving most days), rarely experiencing hunger, bloated belly instantaneous with the first meal of the day, daily mild flatulence, burping also, and potential memory loss, probably for at least 1-3 years at this point. Important to note I am (knocking on wood) mentally and physically healthy, and not often anxious / in environments that would otherwise trigger anxiety to increase gut irritation. Methane and hydrogen sulfide are within range.

Just starting to look into fodmaps and potential ways to mitigate future symptoms, should the 14 day 550 mg Xiafaxan (rifaximin) dose be effective, as I can see very quickly that post-treatment is just as critical. I did start my course today (side note: eating all of the yummy high-fodmaps in the meantime during these two weeks, as I think that’s what I’m supposed to do…)

Thing is, while my GI took my symptoms seriously in our consultation, and I got diagnosed with proper testing coming out of one meeting with them, they don’t seem to be preparing me for the post-treatment that I am quickly learning is just as important for me to take attention to… e.g. I had to ask for my own test results to confirm that this was hydrogen dominant SIBO; I wouldn’t have known that otherwise, and am just blindly taking the Xifaxin course without any explanation beyond my own research as to why I’ve been prescribed this.

I am looking into prokinetics for when these two weeks are over, based on information online and in this subreddit, and I’m afraid of being able to try any without a prescription. I can message my provider and ask for options directly, but I’m looking to get as much info as soon as possible before asking for anything, as I acknowledge timing with post-treatment is everything + want to get my communications right (if any). But to be honest, I don’t even know if that’s 100% the right post-antibiotic route either.

I’m pretty lost overall with this recent diagnosis, so I’m hoping to have some help and any advice from this community! Thanks in advance.
