So does any of you (especially the ones started residency around 30-35) have experience flirting with your attending? I feel like there’s a some sexual tension between us and no I’m not delusionaal. She’s very tough on other residents (especially the females) but I could basically do no wrong. I actually accidental poked her with need during surgery and she went off on the surgical tech for distracting me. She even talked to me after telling me accidents happen and the OR staff are trash lol

Why is general surgery so popular? Brutal residency, not so great lifestyle as an attending, mediocre pay (comparing to other 5-year long residencies)… so what’s appealing about it?

Is it frowned up to hook up with your chief resident? I’ve always had a thing for women with authority. Any time she’s chewing my ass for something, all I can think of is eating her ass in return. She’s technically not boss so it should be okay right? And yes, whenever she’s on service I have to wear white coat with all buttons closed

A) $350k in NYC, 4 weeks of vacation

B) $500k in mid-size city, 6 weeks of vacation

C) $900k in middle of nowhere, 10 weeks of vacation

D) $550k in middle of nowhere for two years then ASC partnership with $1.2-1.5m potential

How do you ask a coresident to hookup without sounding creepy? We’re two totally different people so dating is not an option but I feel like there’s sexual tension between us (or we just spend an unhealthy number of stressful hours together)

I remember one of my friend when he got into rad onc few years ago, was very worried because apparantly bunch of grads that year couldn’t find a single job and had to do bs fellowships. Everyone was saying it’s dying specialty. Fast forward now, he just signed a contract starting next year for 650k guaranteed for two years with 100k sign-on bonus…🤯

Why do surgical techs act like they own the OR? Or like they’re the actual surgeons?? When in reality their job is just to hand stuff to the surgeon. Today in the OR there was enough space between me and the sterile table that a fat person could’ve easily walked in between but this *** had the audacity to yell at me for “being too close to the sterile field”… like *** stfu and mind your own business

When are we gonna stop the whole “if it’s not documented, it didn’t happen”? When are we gonna stop writing so many bs unnecessary notes? Can you imagine how pleasant practicing medicine would be if we didn’t have to write all these bs notes?
