We've had quite the month so far. Found out my poor boy has severe hip dysplasia and is going to need surgery. Kodiak Bear is getting started on lifetime injections soon, but today, we celebrated his second birthday 💕💞💕 so grateful God blessed my life with this boy 💜 happy birthday, my sweet love ❤

We had a rough day Friday and got some possibly unpleasant news...

I'm sharing a picture from a favorite winter memory because Kodi is sleeping at the moment and isn't up for photos. Kodiak has been showing weakness in his back legs the last couple weeks and had an appointment next week. He's been scared to jump and get up in the car and even needs help getting on the couch and my bed too. Well, Thursday night was a sleepless and restless night for him. He was crying and whining all night so thankfully we were able to get him in the next day. We ran some tests and he will be going back for x-rays soon. His anal glands were really full, but no infections. He gets loose stool off and on since he was little so his diet is limited and regulated. Well, I also found out we may be dealing with some hip dysplasia and if it gets bad enough, surgery could be needed... He will be 2 years old 1 month from today so it's around time to check for dysplasia anyway. At the appointment, we found out Kodiak puts majority of his weight on his front legs and barely on his rear legs. I'm praying that it isn't dysplasia and that there will be a simple solution instead of having to consider potential surgery. Having to watch him be in pain and having no idea how to help is a terrible feeling. I don't have kids, but he's more than that for me. Kodiak is my world and my heart. He's my soul dog and I'm thankful that we've been able to at least ease his pain some. He's sleeping through the night more and feeling somewhat better. Just gotta get his x-rays done soon. 💕💞

Get a cooling pillow they said, you'll love it they said... I love it when I'm able to use it myself 😂🥰😍

How old are your berners and how much do they currently weigh? I'm just curious because Kodi will be 2 years old in August and currently weighs 92.4 lbs 💕💞

When your berner is in hibernation mode during the summer

He usually prefers to lay in my room since it's the coolest. He was content with his stitch cooling pad, bowl of water, and a big fan blowing on him 💕😍

He gets so excited as soon as he sees me grab his harness 💕💞💕 had a question tho

I'm checking out different kinds of harnesses that are preferable for a berner specifically. Currently wearing a barkbay harness with a front and back clip and a handle (we use the back clip and some times his handle). He does fairly well on our walks and getting a lot better with his pulling. He still has a lot of puppy in him and we've been working on the pulling. I know they're cart pulling dogs. I'm just mainly concerned about his joints and was wondering if there's a harness specifically recommended for berners in particular when he's on a walk? Or perhaps something else better used for a berner instead of a harness? What do other berner owners use on walks? Just out of pure curiosity because he's my first berner and it's been a lot of learning as I go with him kind of experience so far.

Sticks are forever one of his favorite things, but he is supervised to make sure no pieces go down to the tummy 😘
