split TK/K class

does anyone have experience they can share about being in a split class in CA public school?

my kiddo was put in a TK/K split and is in the TK cohort. the school admin gave me a sales presentation on why it’s a good thing when I voiced my concerns about the placement. essentially they said tough luck and tried to tell me parents prefer a split and he will have more one on one time.

Expeditionary learning or public school?

school starts in two weeks and SO are deciding between an expeditionary learning charter school and our district’s decent/highly rated public school for our child.

our child is starting TK, and we are in a small, tight knit community in California. we like things about each of the schools and are not sure which to select. if you have experience with either one, or advice, I would love to hear!

the public school outranks the charter on test scores in reading and math. the charter school has a cool philosophy to learning and says they are more hands on and don’t care as much about test scores. both have a very strong sense of community.
