Immigration crisis update: the cats are now involved

I have lived in Libya my whole life. I have seen things that would make a therapist retire early. I thought I was built different at this point. Desensitised. Unbothered. A veteran.

and then this video found me at 2am.

A migrant man, visibly sick, clearly starving, caught on camera eating a cat in public before being arrested. a cat. and before anyone comes for me, no i will not be sharing it

The fact that someone reached that point that desperate, that hungry, that invisible to everyone around them and the only response from authorities was to arrest him... says everything about how broken this whole situation is.

Libya is not equipped to handle this. The government knows it, we know it, and apparently the cats are starting to find out too

immigration policy, humanitarian support something, anything. because right now we're all just watching a crisis unfold in real time and calling it Tuesday.

Somehow, someway, I feel as though i always end up looking like an idiot.

i always end up embarrassing myself in some facet and i don’t think that this is the worst thing in the world. and the reason that i say that is because oftentimes when you look like the fool, if you’re the one that is seemingly the idiot to everyone else, it’s because you actually took a chance to put yourself out there, you actually tried in some way or shape perform you were actually vulnerable, which is more than most people can say, the world is made up of about 95% people that watch the other 5% of people actually do something with their life

so if you’re trying just know that you’re already ahead of most and so yeah you might look like the idiot, but you know, the alternative was to be nothing, to not even try that’s the biggest loser of them all is somebody who doesn’t even try u know?

but the reason that you’re probably looking like an idiot is because you’re at least in my case i have always trusted people too early, i thought that they had the same intentions that i did But when you live in a ruthless society you naturally a good person and a genuine person be taken advantage of.

Fyodor dostovsky has a novel called the idiot, and it’s all about this the main character is this guy who’s like a solid individual with strong morals, he’s innocent And he truly just wants the best for other people. and he lives in a society that you know, this is same society that we live in today where it’s shallow, it’s nihilistic, it’s opportunistic, and you just have a bunch of people that you know will do anything to get to the top, and so if you’re a genuine person, you will be trampled over. This is this is inevitable.

So in the way that you combat this is you have to set up boundaries, boundaries are really important and they need to be stuck to no matter what, NO exceptions because the second you let one thing slide someone will know that they can take advantage of you all the time, and so people will make sure to test you and to figure out, like what is this person’s level of self respect? honestly that’s what it is.

You know, having self respect doesn’t mean you’re being mean to other people, but it just means not letting other people push you around it means holding firm to your beliefs, there’s an uncomfortable truth that needs to be faced, which is that sometimes you did mess up in life, and you know, that is completely normal.

everybody looks like the idiot sometimes in their life, and here’s you’re just the one oftentimes who admits it. I mean, I’m gonna look like an idiot a lot more than other people, but that’s honestly because I’m trying than other people, maybe I’m I’m also not as intelligent, but so be it.

You look like an idiot for a grand total of, like, five seconds, and then everybody moves all with their life because they’re just so focused on themselves, they don’t really care about anything They’re like, yeah this is i gotta focus on myself now. they’re the spectators, they’re the ones that are watching. So they just they’re gonna go on watching the next thing to try to feel better about themselves, but here’s the thing, If you don’t have this need for social validation, or attention, you can’t really be manipulated, you might look like the idiot, but it won’t really matter. you'll just keep on moving on with your life.

Those are my thoughts. Thank you for reading.
