I went into the record store on a whim and this was the only Rammstein they had. it had to come home with me.

The start of my collection

I already have everything on iTunes but couldn’t resist getting these cds. It’s been so long since I bought a cd, I had forgotten how much I missed opening them and listening while going through the booklets and liner notes.

Mostly successful garage declutter today

I donated almost 2 carloads full of stuff today. Most of it was things I had planned on getting rid of a while ago, but it’s just been sitting in the garage because I have a hard time actually getting the stuff out of the house, so making not one but two trips in one day is a huge success for me.

Donations included knitting supplies/yarn, kids toys, six bags of books, bags full of reusable bags, and empty containers that have been accumulating as I’ve been getting rid of things (holy cow do I have a lot of bags and plastic organizers).

One setback is they wouldn’t accept my stuffed animals. I get attached to them, so I finally coming to terms with letting a lot of them go and then having to bring them back is hard. I posted on my local buy nothing group in hopes that someone will want them.

I first heard of Rammstein when “Du Hast” was popular in 1997. I was familiar with a few songs from Sehnsucht. “Du Hast” was unlike anything I had ever heard before, and I would occasionally play it over the years, but nothing more. I think I was intimidated by the idea of music in a language I didn’t understand, so didn’t really get into it.

A few weeks ago I was having a bad day at work and I decided to listen to their “Essentials” playlist because I wanted something aggressive, and it was exactly what I needed. I don’t know how to explain it, but I was instantly hooked and now I can’t get enough. I have since gone through all their albums, starting with Herzeleid and listened to them all multiple times.

I’m not sure why I feel the need to share this, but I don’t know anyone else who is as into them as I am right now, so I hope you can relate. I think music has a way of finding you at the right time in your life and for some reason I needed this now. I’ve been in a music funk for a while too, so it’s exciting to have something new to explore.
