New birder. I've observed that the Brown Pelicans in SD can be seen in the evening flying is S-like and V-like flocks. Then early in the morning they will be flying back north, I assume to La Jolla, where many of them can be seen just chilling on the rocks during the day.

My other friend suggested it could be traveling for better food or south for warmer temperatures ? Also saw somewhere about good breeding grounds in the gulf of california.

Just curious on the behavior if anyone has knowledge about it!! Especially any other birders in SD :)
