Pale Blue Dot Flag - for those who speak for Earth

I posted this over in r/solarpunk and was told you all may enjoy it. It's a world flag concept I came up with while writing a story.

It is a flagified version of the pale blue dot image taken by Voyager 1. The, "who speak for earth," is a callback to something said by Carl Sagan, the person who ensured the image's creation, in the last episode of, "Cosmos: A Personal Voyage."

I originally designed it with the black, but later was convinced to give it a smidge of color with the purple.

>Look again at that dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.

Updated PBD Flag

I promise I won't be posting any more flags after this. As a mod of another sub, I know repetitive posts can get really tiring. But several people commented that the black of the original flag was a bit much. After several comments like that I tried it out again and, with the help of u/zg5002, I settled on this dark shade of purple. Just bright enough to give it some body and color, but still dark enough to invoke space and let the PBD pop in the sunbeam. I was especially sold with the flagpole simulation. Given how many people seemed to dig the flag I wanted to make sure the update got seen.

So there it is. The Pale Blue Dot Flag. A symbol of those who speak for earth. Imho I think either black or this purple can be seen as, "correct," as I still like both lol.

I was also given the suggestion to add stars. I don't hate the suggestion, but I wanted to keep it as similar to the original image as possible. And due to Voyager 1's position when the image was captured, Sol and Saturn wash out the stars so none are visible.

In case anyone was wondering, the hex codes are:

* Field - #180425

* Sunbeam - #FBDE61

* Dot - #40ADF0

If we're doing flags...

A flag for those who speak for earth. I hope you catch the reference.

Edit: I had hoped someone would have recognized it a bit. But probably an unreasonable assumption.
