Ugh, mugged along a canal path

Last night around 10pm I was assaulted on the south side of the canal between Mesa drive and Center and North of Brown.

It was called in, and I went through the motions with the police, fire, and crime scene photographer. I was talking to my partner who lives in Prescott at the time. The assailant hit me from behind with a punch and continued to pummel me as I went to the ground making a lot of noise.

Scuffed up, a headache, and I lost a little backpack of water. It could have been much worse if he used a weapon to send me down. Anyway, be careful out there late at night, I didn't think it could happen to me as a strong 6.1 man.

I was walking on the less-lit side of the canal, oblivious to my surroundings as I was on a call with earphones, and yeah... That sucked.

The local enforcement showed up fast, 911 dispatched fast, fire was there to check vitals, and I got a ride home, about 2 miles from there.

I walk in this area often over the years and will continue to do so, but I'll be on the sidewalk side now at night, not consumed by earphones, and stay vigilant.

At 52, the entire crews are so much younger nowadays, lol. They are doing things well though and show up in force. If you are assaulted, then be calm and stay the prices with 911 and initiate a response from the City to those who think they can prey on us.
