Built a tool to cut and analyze recorded matches, looking for feedback

Hi everyone, I'm a 2100+ USATT rated player/coach in the US. My friend and I both film matches but were tired of going through the entire recording and not knowing what to look for to improve on, so we started building PongLens.

What it does:

  • Upload a match and it will automatically remove dead time and split the match into individual points
  • You can also cut and mark the points manually as you watch, if you'd rather do it by hand
  • Score the match by tapping who won each point to get stats like serve and receive win %, how you do from 9-all, where your serves land, and other analysis
  • Comment/tag individual points with improvements and patterns (ex. attack sooner, use your body on the fh, etc.)
  • Share a match with your coach so they can comment or draw on specific points
  • Export edited matches or points and share highlights

The ball tracking and table detection are models we trained ourselves on table tennis footage with 250+ matches so far. There are tools out there that cut dead time, but we wanted to go deeper with analysis and getting more out of footage.

It's free right now. It works in the browser on any phone or computer through www.ponglens.com, and the iPhone app is in beta (Android app is coming, and the web app works on Android now). If any match cuts are off, we can always fix it on our end.

If you want to get into recording or already do, we'd love your feedback! Feel free to message me or comment with any questions.
