Expressing your heritage in non-Latino spaces…
Hey y’all!
This post is for the ambiguous Chicanos out there because I have a question for y’all regarding expressing your heritage.
I’ve been recently trying to expand my circle for business purposes lately, so I’ve ended up in a lot of situations where I am the only Latino in a group. Things will be going great and normal until the topic of heritage comes up. I’m not sure if it’s just me, but whenever I do bring up my Mexican heritage, People start getting distant with me.
I’m not sure if it’s racism or they’ve never met a Latino before so they don’t know how to act, but I wanted to get some opinions for those who have had similar experiences with non-Latino people and what it means.
Look forward to seeing your insights!
