So I applied on January of this year & took the aptitude test on March for Sound & Communications for Local 11.

Got my ranking on April and was #22. I was honestly pretty excited. Got the call on June for bootcamp to come in on July, but it was on the one week I could not take off from my current job. (My manager went on a missionary trip, so I had to hold the store down. She literally begged me not to take that one week off, asked me a couple months prior).

The ETI lady told me they’ll call me for a second time and if I turn that down too they’ll cancel my application. I talked to my manager about it and she said take that call no matter what.

I check my POE ranking pretty often and saw that it dropped to #36 around July. I thought it wasn’t THAT bad yet. I check this sub and the ibew-applicants sub for anything that has to do with Local 11 religiously. I read that work for Sound & Comm is slow this year and when they do call em for bootcamp, it’s not as many people as wiremen. Sometimes none like on September. So 0-25ish each bootcamp, depending on ranking & zip code.

After the September’s round of applicants took their aptitude test and when I checked my ranking earlier this month of October, I saw that it dropped again to #53. 🫩

Getting more and more restless now, thinking of just going the trade school route at this point. Is it even worth waiting for that call now, or should I just keep tanking this into next year? Wanted some insight from those in the program already that knows what’s good or have advice they can give 🙏🏼

EDIT: Y’all talking shit about what I already know lol. Besides, most S&C ppl in Local 11 didn’t get dispatched for 3-5 months after bootcamp, so I couldn’t just fuck my job up like that. It’s just an unfortunate shitty situation that the week they wanted me somehow lined up with that week. I expected these subs to be more chill and helpful, and I was looking for more of an ‘insider’ info, but hell nah. Y’all just love talking shit without knowing fuckall lol
