Trying to buy a present and need help!

Two weeks ago, I fell down the stairs at my sister’s house and broke my tibia and fibula - it required surgery and a rod placement + nine screws. I have been stranded at my sister’s since then, living in a recliner in their living room until I am cleared to fly home. It has been beyond miserable.

My sister and her husband have been beyond helpful and kind — literally waiting on me since I can barely move. And I want to buy them a little thank you gift.

My brother in law loves to play handheld consoles that play old games — he has ones that play Nintendo and Sega, etc. and they bring him a lot of joy. While we were talking, he mentioned that he’s saving up to buy one that runs GameCube and PlayStation 2 games and also mentioned Ali Express.

But now that I’m looking around, I realize I don’t really have the knowledge to buy the right thing. What’s the best choice? Are the games included on the device or do they have to be downloaded from somewhere after purchase? Would I do that or would he? What’s a reasonable price? I just want to make sure he gets something he truly likes in exchange for all he’s done for me.

Tib/Fib break and surgery — one week ago

I fell down the stairs last week while carrying a suitcase while on vacation visiting my sister. Broke my tib/fib and has surgery that day and got a rod, a plate, and screws. I’m NWB for at least 6 weeks.

I’m now living in a recliner in my sister’s living room and stranded 2000 from home. I’m so glad I found this group — I have a few questions!

— has anyone flown two weeks post op? I would never choose to, but I need to get back to my kids. Right now the plan is to take my blood thinners, put on an adult diaper, and get bulkhead seats. Is that crazy?

— can anyone remote office workers tell me how much time they took off? I feel like I’m already being pressured because technically I don’t have to walk to do my job but… I’m still in a ton of pain and can’t even watch TV at this point. How much time did you take off?

— I know it’s normal, but I’m still in so much pain/discomfort. How long did it take you to at least be able to have a normal day in bed or get a good night of sleep?
