Help Getting Started
Hi everyone!
So I’m looking into purchasing my first camera over the summer, and I was looking for advise on my choice of lenses, kit, and practical rules to adhere when filming or photographing the stars.
As for my choice of camera, I primarily work in video, so will likely be getting an FX3, but am also considering the A7R VI as my main hybrid, and relying on rentals, or selling it if and when a FX3 2 releases.
As far as lenses go, I was weighing the 16-35mm GMii and the 50-150mm GM for flexibility, though I know that f2.8 and f2.0 lenses aren’t necessarily considered ideal.
I would also be interested in the 12-24mm GM 2.8, or possibly another lens set entirely. Though my preference is to stay with Sony glass for optimized AF performance for my narrative work.
Beyond the lenses, there is a specific scene I am trying to film: basically an all night time lapse of the Milky Way from twilight to dawn, and in order to pull it off, I really need to have a good sense of the best camera and lenses to work with, as well as a good battery, technique, and anything I might need to know before attempting this.
I might also want to cut to different constellations, and was thinking that the 50-150mm could be appropriate for this purpose.
