Cognitive/Behavioral Assessments

10 years in tech sales, been unemployed for 6 months now hustling for another sales job. What is with all these cognitive tests? I've never had to take one to secure a role before. Lots of times this is requested before I even speak with the recruiter on the phone. I was just sent another one for a frankly low paying sales gig. I'm in sales because I'm bad at tests but good with people so no, I probably cant solve situational math problems without a calculator nonetheless.

The stupidest one I had was with camera on sitting with a blank wall behind me so they could ensure I wasn't using a calculator lol. Just the ridiculousness of this job market rn.

These interviews are getting unhinged

The market is tough right now and I have had some unhinged interviews as of late. Just when I think I've seen it all a new one this week took the cake.

First step I had a typeform to submit of answers to situational questions. Took me about 90 min to complete and was straightforward. I heard positive feedback and finally 1 month later they booked me with the new revenue director (hence the wait... he just started). Alright fine. I get on the zoom and his approach was certainly a boring one, just him throwing situational questions at me and not a conversation. He shared he was hired to bring up revenue numbers because they are behind so far in 2026. This is where the convo took a turn. He asks me about the previous clients I've sold to. I gave generic industry answers. He asks names of the companies and I professionally dodged that request too. He then asked me to share my screen live and show him my network on Linkedin connections of who I've sold to. Mind you his notetaker is on to boot. I'm sorry, what! Yeah sure man let me give you some free leads whether you hire me or not...... unbelievable.

Whats your worst interview story? Its rough out here.
