Volunteering opportunities for teenagers in Yerevan?

16M, looking for volunteering opportunities in Yerevan. Planning to apply to a top international uni next year.

I am studying at one of the country's top private schools, I excel in Math, Business, Economics, CS, and I speak Armenian, Russian and English, if this helps.

CS students, what’s the male-to-female ratio in your class?

In my school, for my year, out of 10 people in CS class, 9 are boys. In the year prior there were 12 boys, no girls. And so on. I'm just curious if this is a common thing or not.

I joined the army at 18 to escape my abusive parents. Saw real combat. AMA.

Since I was about 15 my parents were both abusive (but more my mother) - both physically and mentally. Despite actually getting accepted into a world class university, I didn't have that kind of money, and I joined the army at 18 (that was 2019). In 2020 I participated in real combat, made it out alive, unlike many of my brothers-in-arms.

My contract ended in 2024. I decided not to contact my parents. Was homeless for about 2 months, before I managed to get a decently paying job, which I've had for the past 1.5 years, despite disliking it very much. Now I'm not used to this level of stability in my life. I'm thinking of either signing up again, or moving abroad (I got a couple of real options in Europe) in search of something more meaningful.

Ask me anything

P.s. I'm not from the US. Normally in my country you get drafted automatically if you're a male and when you turn 18. I was born here but had a passport of another country, so I actually had the option not to join the army. But I changed my passport and joined anyway.

I need y'all's help to lock in and maybe even some tips

Long story short, every upvote on this post equals to 15 mins of CS and 15 mins of Math AA.

Basically, end of DP1. Got some exams coming up which are gonna be the deciding grades for our predicted grades.

This is how it looks:
English B HL - 7
My local Language A - 7.
BM SL - 7 (unless I get like a 5 on the exam)
Econ HL - 7 (out of the 2 tests throughout the year I've got 2 7s but my teacher says I need 3 7s to be have 7 predicted, so Ima need to get a 7 in the upcoming exam as well)
Math AA HL - 6 (So far I've got one 7, two 6s, teacher says another 7 on the coming exam (in like 2 weeks) and I'll get 7 predicted)
CS SL - 6 (only 6s throughout the year, teacher says I need 7s on this upcoming exam (like 3 weeks from now) and a 7 in the beginning of dp2)

It may look like everything's fine and it actually is for the languages but not for the other stuff.
Truth is: I ain't done shit for the past 6 months. I've not opened a math book in like 4 months, I've only been doing CS practical homework but not reading the course book. I've only been paying attention in Econ and BM but not reading the stuff myself, and I'm not gonna lie I can't shake the feeling everything's bouta go downhill pretty fast.

Is it even possible to lock in for the coming weeks and get 7s for CS and Math? I for real have done nothing for months
Any advice?
I am yet to complete 3-4 IAs during the summer coz most of my teachers for some reason expect us to have done the IAs half a year before the due dates, or otherwise they're not gonna be of any help.

Do higher IELTS/SAT scores matter or is just passing the minimum bar enough for applying for top-50 unis?

As the title reads, is there any sort of reason to go for higher IELTS/SAT scores, above the minimum threshold for the best world unis?

I'm gonna be applying to a top-50 university (Shanghai ranking) in about 6 months. And for what concerns my IELTS results, I can easily get a 8 with no study whatsoever, and I sometimes get a 8.5. The question is whether I should spend like a week or two for practicing for a certain 8.5 or not. Obviously no university I'm applying to has such minimum requirements, and from what I've been hearing from some people online, and also my friends and teachers, the only thing that matters is passing the bar.

Pretty much the same question applies for SAT. I can easily get a high 1400s/low 1500s but is there any reason to study for high 1500s?

How to avoid dogs when running/cycling?

How do I avoid dogs chasing me when I'm running/cycling in the city? It's not like I'm fundamentally scared of dogs but obviously it's uncomfortable when they start barking and chasing you. The one time I went cycling in the past 2 months a giant dog the size of my bike barked at me and chased me from the church all the way to the middle of Yerevan lake bridge.

TOK teacher rant

I submitted the final draft of the exhibition today. When he was reviewing my writing before accepting I asked like what grade I could expect. He said either 8 or 9. I was like "Is there anything I could do to improve it? What are the current issues with it?" and dude goes like "I don't really know. It's pretty good anyway, we might make it actually worse if we edit, you know. I'm not really familiar with this one's grading".

Apparently, I was the first one in my entire school's history to have the theme indigenous societies.
