Hi everyone,

I am currently an AP, in my second AP position with 3 years in the NHS.

This will be second time applying for the dclin and I feel I have enough clinical experience, but I do not have a masters and I have a pending publication of some research work I did within my current NHS role.

I’ve been told by a supervisor that I’m losing marks on my application for not having a masters and for not being published. Is there anything I can do to help with my application from a research side? I have completed audits and presented at meetings and completed some work creating booklets for the service. Does this count?

Are there specific universities where masters and published research is weighted less that I would have a good chance of getting an interview for?

I had my left hip replaced 3 years ago and it’s doing well, I’m very happy with it. I go to the gym regularly and still struggle with imbalances in strength between my left and right side but I’m able to strength train without pain as long as I go slowly.

I’ve been thinking about competing in a hyrox, and I feel confident in training for the strength based activities but there’s the 1km x 8 runs. I’m not a runner and have avoided it as it’s high impact on the joints. Though I thought I’d try it and see as it has been 3 years since I’ve had my hip now.

I went for my second practise run of just 1km today and my left side is a bit sore. Nothing major and I’m sure it’ll be fine tomorrow but it’s just got me thinking again, is it worth running/ training for a hyrox if it’ll decrease the longevity of my hip replacement? Does anyone have any experience of running after having their hip done?

I’m a 27 year old woman, for context.
