When did you get your stitches / sutures out post ORIF?

I had ORIF on May 15th! And have the option to have the post op on May 28th or on June 1st.

I feel like the splint they have me in is SO heavy it’s genuinely hard to move my leg. Was everyone else’s so heavy???

Anyways I’m leaning going in ASAP but am wondering if going on June 1st is a higher chance of for sure getting out of the splint and stitches for sure.

Thanks in advance!

Surgery tomorrow! ORIF

Sadly joining the club tomorrow- have ORIF scheduled...I am genuinely freaking out. Mostly about the anesthesia. While doing pre-op clearances, my EKG came back super weird and showed some LBBB which is brand new. I have still been cleared for surgery but can't stop shaking the feeling of how scary anesthesia is.I do feel like my foot is infinitely better since day of injury (May 2nd), can't help but wonder if I really do need the surgery. Anyone have any thoughts/learnings from their anesthesia?

LBBB + Ortho Surgery Advice

Hi all <3 would love your honest take on something because I am spiraling a bit.

I went for pre-op cardiac clearance before a Lisfranc ORIF (ortho surgery) and had 2 back-to-back EKGs showing new LBBB (QRS ~140). Prior EKGs in 2022 and Oct 2025 were completely normal (QRS 80–88). Never have had any abnromal prior readings whatsover

I’m 32, no cardiac symptoms like at all, no CP/SOB/palpitations/syncope outside of classic vasovagal-type nausea episodes. Oura resting HR usually ~58. Exam/vitals normal (BP ~108/60, O2 97%, no edema/JVD/murmur etc).

Relevant context is I have been under INSANE stress recently:

  • Lisfranc injury + impending surgery
  • barely eating/drinking bc i cannot move around
  • dehydrated for sure
  • extreme anxiety/panic
  • fell off my scooter literally right before the EKG :(

Prior echo from 2023 (was done bc i was wearing my apple watch on my left hand even though i programmed it for the right and it freaked out so i went to the cardiologist and so all the work up was done and treated incidentally)

  • EF 61%
  • mild MR
  • trace TR
  • atrial septal aneurysm/small shunt/PFO-ish finding
  • otherwise structurally normal

I just don't really know if I should be postponing the surgery...how major of a finding is this?

Prior EKGs on file:

I tripped and immediately knew something was deeply wrong. I went to the ED and they did a weight bearing X-ray + MRI. Results are as follows:

MRI: High-grade partial tearing of the Lisfranc ligamentous complex withoutsubstantial diastasis. Minimally displaced avulsion fracture of the dorsolateral aspect of the lateralcuneiform and nondisplaced subchondral impaction fracture of the cuboidbone. Multifocal periarticular osseous contusions around the thetarsometatarsal joints. Diffuse soft tissue edema involving the musculature and dorsal subcutaneoussoft tissues of the midfoot.

Xray: Right foot/ankleSlight widening at the right Lisfranc articulation with subtle offset between the first metatarsal base and the intermediate/middle cuneiforms. Mild adjacent soft tissue swelling over the dorsal aspect of the midfoot. No associated fracture. Appearances are concerning for possible Lisfranc ligamentous injury. MRI or CT could be performed for further evaluation. Otherwise maintained joint spaces and weight bearing articular alignment ofthe right foot and ankle. The ankle mortise is congruent. The talar dome isintact.

It sounds like very very borderline on if surgery is needed...how did anyone else make this decision?
