Planning ~10–14 days in Greece: looking for authentic islands, good food, nature, and some family meetups. Need advice

Hey everyone, I’m planning a trip to Greece and could use some advice from people who know it well.

I’ll be traveling with my partner (who’s a Greek speaking American), and part of the trip will include meeting up (for a few days) with her parents who are also traveling separately. So it looking for both romantic trip and for some relaxed family time.

We’re trying to avoid the super touristy/Instagram heavy places like Mykonos. What we’re really after is good local food, beaches and nature (hiking/ non-beach scenery too), and towns or islands that feel more authentic and lived in. We’d also love some low key nightlife, live music/cool DJs, or a bit of a social vibe in the evenings.

We’re also hoping to keep things relatively affordable and not bounce around too much. Right now we’re thinking about mixing between places like Crete, Naxos, Paros, and the Peloponnese, but we’re open to anything.

Main questions are basically:
Where would you base yourselves for this kind of trip?
Is it better to do fewer places and go deeper, or still try to island hop?
Any underrated spots that still feel authentic but are easy to travel in?

We’ve got about 10–14 days total. Any suggestions or itineraries advice would be really appreciated.

Thanks y'all!
