My first Ocarina of Time playthrough since 1999

My first Ocarina of Time playthrough since 1999

So, I’ve played Ocarina of Time for the first time since I was a kid back in 1999, and I’m totally blown away by how good it (still) is and how well it has aged. I already knew it was a masterpiece, but I didn’t expect it to be this good.

To be fair, I played the PC port Ship of Harkinian with 120 FPS, a 3D camera, 4K textures, lots of bug fixes, lots of QoL improvements - you name it. But even without all of that, it’s still a 10/10 in terms of content! There isn’t a single bad dungeon (if anything, some are just too short), the temples keep getting better and better throughout the game, the world isn’t huge but still feels big enough, and the overall progression is peak game design.

And then there’s the music. Oh my God, that soundtrack! It’s been stuck in my head rent-free ever since I was a kid! They managed to make a better soundtrack with crappy MIDI files than 95% of today’s AAA productions with orchestras and whatnot. I played the game with my better half, it was her first time, and she absolutely loved it too, which really made her understand why this game is held in such high regard. She even listens to the soundtrack on her way to work! :D

So, since you guys probably haven’t seen a single tier list yet, here’s ours:

Yes, we both love the Water Temple
