More speedy charging, 260kWh

Electrify America bested the 250kWh I recently got at Ionna. 262kwh. Walmart parking lot in Frederick, MD. Not cheap though, I think it was $.60+ per kWh (vs. < $.40 for Ionna).

Hit 250kW charging with Ionna

Winston-Salem, NC, got to the charger with 40% SoC, topped out at 251.2kW. Much better than Tesla chargers! Charged to 90% and were on our way.

Pleased with LinerX Mats

Thought the OEM "all-weather" mats were pretty chintzy in my XRT, pulled them out and went with LinerX for front and rear, WeatherTech for trunk. Better than the no name Amazon brands, but cheaper than higher end alternatives. Good coverage, thick, material feels solid.

Ordered directly from LinerX and shipped from MD to NC in two days.

'26 XRT Lifted with Truxxx Kit

Had my '26 XRT Lifted with the Truxxx lift kit yesterday. $400 in WNC for installation and alignment. Wanted more clearance to reach trailheads as we live at the base of Pisgah Forest and are frequently off road. This puts us close to 9 inches.

First impressions: step-in and trunk height are much more practical. We're coming from a '22 Bronco Sport Badlands, so the XRT has felt pretty low. Now, that's fixed. Sitting in the garage, it feels more like an SUV now and less like a hatchback.

By my measurements, we gained 1.75" of height (I measured an arbitrary trim line on the side before and after). It's visually noticable, but doesn't look ridiculous (others may feel differently). I think there's room to go up a tire size, but not sure I ever will.

We had been getting 3.9 mi/kWh in mixed driving (mostly city and back roads, some highway) and moderate weather over 6ish weeks of ownership; I'll report back on range impact (some drop will likely also be due to the temps rising here and running AC more frequently).

Need to spend the weekend with it to see if the ride or road noise are impacted.

Only complaint is the shop wasn't able to get the alignment perfect (they said the kit makes it impossible to get it perfect without further modifications). We'll see if this impacts driving experience or tire wear long term.

On the whole, I think the improved clearance, for our use, will outweigh any of the negatives. But if I ever feel differently, we'll simply uninstall it.

Said Goodbye to Range Anxiety Today

Driving from WNC to Gainesville, FL today in our XRT and used Level 3 chargers for the first time.

First was a Mercedes Benz station outside of Athens, GA. No app, tap to pay, no issues. $.44/kWh.

Second was a 350kW Tesla charger in Perry, GA. My wife plugged in and because we have Hyundai Pay set up and Plug and Charge enabled, it started charging instantly. No app required. My wife didn't realize it would just start charging and said "I think this charger is free." Got about 125kW. $.51/kWh.

We never got max charging speeds because both times we were starting at 50-60% charge (and I think you get the fastest speeds at the lower end of the range).

All in all, smooth, easy charging experiences. Range anxiety negated.

Low Brake Fluid Warning at 2,500 Miles?

Have a new '26 I5 XRT and got a notification on the dash this morning that the brake fluid was low. Thought it had to be an error.

Parked in the garage as normal, and when I backed out later, I noticed a few drips of fluid on the concrete where the front driver's side tire had been. Blotted with a paper towel, confirmed light yellow/brown - not just water or condensation, and only by that one tire.

Called the dealership, they wanted to tow it, but we drove it 20 miles to the dealership (figure we use i-Pedal 99.9% of the time, so even if the brakes failed we'd be okay). Maybe not the best move, but we lived to tell about it.

Waiting on the diagnosis and suspect (fingers crossed) this is just a random anomaly with a quick fix, but I've never had a brake fluid leak in any car I've owned, especially not one I've owned for less than a month.

Anyone else experience something similar?
