Is my croton going to die? Please help.
I got a basket of mixed plants (peace lily, some kind of Palm and a Croton) when a family member died and I kept it alive in the basket for like almost 4 years. Obviously the Croton never got very big, but it was alive and growing new leaves all the time.
I recently decided it was probably time to re-pot but I'm super attached to these plants and I was scared to do it myself so I let someone else do it because she has an amazing garden. I just assumed the Croton had transplant shock, because it's a Croton lol.
The croton was leggy so she buried it too deep and I didn't realize. She also cut the mesh off the root ball. I also had a really difficult time finding pots where I live so it might be a bit too deep, but it has drainage holes. I water it when the soil feels dry, or if the peace lily starts drooping slightly.
I dug out the stem and let it air out and it looks okay, I also don't smell anything rotten.. I'm afraid to pull it out of the soil because I don't want to make it worse. Should I just leave it alone and see? The other two plants in the pot are doing great. I also moved it to a sunnier window.
I'm so attached to these plants as I consider them a memorial. Please help.
