I think I figured out a kind of trick

I'll preface this by saying im not selling anything, im just looking for opinions. I run 5 websites, all low on authority and I was on the verge of paying money for an outreach website to try and get some backlinks. But I thought let me try something a bit unconventional to try and get backlinks and it seems that I've struck something.

My question is, If you figured out a method or like a technique to get a higher success rate with getting backlinks that was all above board, not spammy at all, how would you monetise it?

FWIW I've sent 3 emails and I've gotten 3 backlinks so far from it. Early days, I know. Not from super high authority sites but theyre in the topic of my site and more useful.

What would be the best way to monetise this idea I've figured out. I don't think it warrants building a full course or anything of that scale.

What would you do in my position?

"YouTube is testing your video to a larger audience " rant/question

I'm a bit frustrated at this. Call this a rant if you will.

I posted a video yesterday, initial response looked great. 1 of 10 video in first few hours, lots of comments from subscribers came through. It got to 140 views.

Then I notice the message:

"this video is reaching a wider audience on YouTube, leading to a lower click-through rate (CTR) than usual. Wider audiences are often less likely to choose to watch a video, but the lower CTR is not hurting this video’s view count."

and 12hrs later my video has 156 views. Wtf?

Everything I read online says give it time, dont be impatient and go changing things with the title and how youtube is testing this with a larger audience so you just have to be patient. But again, wtf?

It's just annoying when you put all this time and effort into filming and editing a video and you don't see it grow.

It literally feels like they just dump the video into some kind of shadow realm.

Has anyone else had this happen to them, and did the video do well?

Ever had youtube take your video to the "This video is appealing to a larger audience" shadow realm?

Will Nintendo come after me?

I am editing a video and I want to use the 3, 2, 1, GO! sound effect from Mario Kart, No visuals, just the sound. Im only using it once in my video.

My channel isnt a gaming channel at all or anything like that.

But I've heard a lot about Nintendo being crazy militant about flagging people for using their stuff. Do yall think Nintendo would come knocking if I use this sound effect?

Another thing that pisses me off about YouTube.

fucking "YouTube playables"

creators have to compete with ai content, bullshit shorts, channel getting randomly shut down by a ai bot, and now YouTube playables. We dont want you to watch content, nah, play a shitty game instead.

wtf are YouTube doing?

Hang in there and distract yourself when things feel shit.

This isn't a moaning post or anything. I'm not going to boast about any specific numbers or how much money I made or how many subs I have.

I just want to say that these last two weeks I've been in a dark place, and maybe you are too. If you feel like shit because nothing is moving in the right direction, hang in there. Try to distract yourself with something else and have faith in yourself and your content. Don't give up.
I wont say what this graph is indicative of because that's irrelevant. It's moving in the right direction and a week ago I was literally losing sleep and losing hope that my channel was still alive. I somehow thought that maybe youtube has put a black mark on my account or something because none of my videos were doing anything.

But I tweaked it and left it alone and now every other morning I go for walks in the park to help my mental, and it looks like this video is moving in the right direction now so that's my little victory.

Sitting in your room refreshing the studio app will just put you in a darker and darker place. Get a good book, go outside and sit in the park or something, because inspiration really can't be found in the four walls of your home. That's what I learnt too.

Keep posting or planning to post and have faith. I sincerely hope everyone out there who is making real original content gets successful from this YouTube shit.

Where do you buy your banjos?

Hi all! I'm based in New York and I want to buy a banjo to start learning.
Is there a better website that you guys recommend? I've had a quick look at Reverb and Amazon, are those the two best places? Would be great to know you guy's opinions.

Im trying to avoid places like facebook or craigslist as they feel too risky.

Could Kemel 2293 be messing me up? (long read)

So I got the Kemel 2293 and Wahl cordless magic clip. My first attempt I struggled because the first line i made with the Kemels which is supposed to be closest to the skin, it didnt come out close to the skin. So when it came to making the first cut with the clippers, there wasnt much of a difference in grade, so I felt like I was a bit blind.

I noticed that the Kemels even though theyre sharp, they dont cut very close to skin, or as close to the skin as they should.
Reason I think this also is because I went to the barber and asked him to fix one of my attempts and he very kindly explained to me where I went wrong, he then showed me how I should have cut it and his beard trimmers, I cant remember the brand name of them, they cut VERY close. It was noticeably sharper than the Kemels I had been using at home. So I'm thinking to get a sharper pair of beard trimmers and not use these Kemels anymore. Which is a shame because I thought I found a gem with these. But they just dont cut close enough.
What trimmers do you all use?
