Need some info about placements from seniors

How does placement season usually go from sem 7 onwards?
Like:
- which companies generally visit
- around what time/month they come
- package ranges
- how many students they usually hire
- which companies allow backlog/KT and which don’t

Also wanted to know if most good companies come early itself or decent opportunities continue later into sem 8 too

Would really appreciate any guidance/advice from people who already went through placements
