Laundry room maximalism

1950s house laundry room here that was extraordinarily ugly before. I wanted some ideas to help me figure out what is off and how to fix it.

This room originally had triple layers of those sticky Lino plaid tiles paired with stained off white walls and puke/brown painted peeling doors. We redid the floors to something that could best match the three connecting rooms (before I had my plans with this room). My husband wanted red doors thought out this floor and I found the best shade to match 2 different types of wood wall paneling (also before I got this idea with the laundry room). Then I got the fantastic idea to put some art deco back into the house and hand painted the walls partially with stencil and mostly by hand. I love how the walls turned out and want to do the door design on all the doors in this room.

Something is off to me and I can’t tell if it is the floor or ceiling? The floor does need a rug to help keep mud and dirt contained for practical reasons. I definitely need to artistically and safely cover the water heater and furnace. Also the ceiling is quite low 7 feet. I wanted to change the fixture but got stumped. I think the back door looks like a prison door and wanted to change its design with trim to change that feeling.

I added a picture of the attached rooms. Both are done for the moment. I wanted to share a picture of the attached rooms for reference and to share my style.

Ideas and opinions welcome.
