Manila Digger left it late but edged a narrow win over Kaya in an entertaining and feisty match between two top sides.

In what was billed as a potential early title indicator match, both sides were putting through some good passes but struggling to really penetrate through the defence.

Kaya were impressive, finding ways through the Digger midfield but struggling to get off final shots, whilst Digger failed to have a shot on target in the first half for the first time this season.

Digger only ever need one chance though, and it came through a brilliantly worked set piece routine, Baboucarr Touray racing onto a threaded pass to slot home at the death.

A stunning win for Manila Digger, who continue their perfect start to the season!

⚽️FULL TIME⚽️

Azkals DC rescued a draw late into the match as they played out a battling 1-1 draw with Mendiola.

After an end to end and combative first half, Mendiola took the lead deep into stoppage time when Onyeka Obi converted from the penalty spot to send the Mendiola fans cheering.

The second half was equally as hard fought, both sides squandering chances as they sought the next goal. When it came, it was a superb finish - Abdelhamid Lacchab smashing the ball into the top corner late in the second half following a swift break.

Both sides had repeated chances but poor finishing let them down, as Mendiola will see this as 2 points let go and ADC will see it as a point rescued.

A great game to continue into today’s headliner!

⚽️FULL TIME⚽️

Stallion Laguna edged to victory in one of the most entertaining PFL matches in history, coming out 5-4 winners against a superb Tuloy side.

When Omid Musawi danced through the defence to smash home in the 12th minute, there was a threat that Stallion could run away with it, but Tuloy time and again battled back. The ever-brilliant Cyrelle Saut grabbed a brace, with Jhon Diaz and Jastin Lupango also on the scoresheet as they equalised 4 times against this Stallion Laguna side.

However, Stallion battled hard, with goals from Habibi, Chris Williams, a stunning volley from Hames Hajimehdi and eventually a late winner from Zamoranho Ho-A-Tham to grab all three points.

A brutal result for Tuloy, who will feel they could have earned a result here, but this is a good win for Stallion as they fought all the way to the end.

Manila Digger made their first PFL match as champions a winning start, emerging 3-0 victors in a tough encounter with Stallion Laguna.

The damage started early when Charles Pickering looped an unfortunate clearance into his own net, before a superb double effort from Rico Andes ensured the win before the end if the first half.

Stallion could’ve been blown away, but Roberto Llamas made some vital stops to deny a barrage from Ceesay and the other Diggers attackers. Omar Njie similarly pulled off some fine stops to keep his team with a clean sheet in their first league match of the season.

Max Brown was sent off after being deemed to have prevented a goal scoring opportunity late on, but the damage was already done. Diggers are definitely the team to beat, and have started as they finished with a champions’ performance.

⚽️FULL TIME⚽️

Azkals DC put in a sublime performance to dent Maharlika’s early charge and get their first PFL win in a sublime 2-0 victory.

This was a win built upon a monumental defensive effort, with goalkeeper Hayeson Pepito and defenders Lacchab and Al Arqan particularly impressive. Maharlika had the majority of the chances but failed to ever really threaten the goal, and they were made to pay for it.

Robert Quaye got their opener following sublime work down the wing by Lacchab, before Earl Piñero finished the game late in stoppage time after a swift counter attack that saw Kenry Balobo stranded.

A massive boost for this ADC side as Maharlika are forced back to the drawing board.

⚽️FULL TIME⚽️

Fans at RMS were treated to a sensational match as Philippine Army and Tuloy duked it out in a Battle of the Ages, Tuloy emerging narrow 4-3 victors.

After a frantic end-to-end opening spell, Tuloy found an opener through Denmark Uracoy’s terrific drive from outside the box. Cyrelle Saut then made it 2 when he finished well from a fine Jhon Diaz through ball, before Diaz got on the scoresheet himself when he tapped in from close range. Army grabbed a late goal before the break through Delariarte, but by all accounts Tuloy seemed to be in control.

Army then launched what almost became the greatest comeback in PFL history. Palacio smashed home from a Tuloy defensive mix up in the 51st minute, and then 2 minutes after Delariarte got his marching orders for a second yellow, Celiz rifled home from a tight angle to make it 3-3.

The ever deadly Jalique was the hero for Tuloy though, converting in a true striker’s finish to give Tuloy their first win of the season. Sending our best to Jhon Diaz, who took a hard fall in the second half.

Maharlika remain top of the table following a first ever win over Cebu, who drop to 8th. Stallion Laguna jump to 4th following their resounding win against ADC to kickstart their season, whilst Kaya are now 2nd having beaten Tuloy and with Aguilas not in action.

Two sides left to begin their season, and this table is beginning to take form!

⚽️FULL TIME⚽️

Kaya got their season off to a winning start with a solid 3-1 victory over league returners Azkals DC.

Martini Rey opened the scoring early with a smart finish, before doubling Kaya’s lead following excellent work by debutant Kim.

However, ADC quickly hit back, with former Maharlika playing Earl Piñero’s deflected shot finding the net past Natogma to delight the ADC fans.

A combative but even second half saw the game petering out, but then with the last kick of the game Jaime Rosquillo rose highest to head home from a whipped corner, ensuring Kaya finished on a high.

Maharlika got their season kickstarted with a well worked 4-2 victory over youngsters Tuloy, courtesy of an entertaining second half.

Jorrel Aristorenas opened the scoring with a rifled shot from the edge of the area in what was the only effort of the first half to find the net. Maharlika were in control but it was a cagey opening 45, with each sides prodding at the defences of the other.

Aristorenas then turned provider, as his whipped pass from the wing found Ren Nagamatsu, who promptly and smoothly smashed home a low effort to open his PFL account. He doubled it just 4 minutes later when his terrific glanced header arced past Tuloy’s Antilo Jr.

Paolo Bugas found his first Maharlika goal, with a long range effort squirrelling into the net.

Maharlika were given a late scare as Tuloy briefly rallied, with Jalique’s excellent powerful finish and Binalong’s reaction goal providing some hope for the youngsters, but it was too little too late. Coach Moon however will have noted that so far all 3 goals they’ve conceded have come in the last 10 minutes.

Aguilas UMak put on a stunning show as they eased past a strong Mendiola side 4-0, with three debutants on the scoresheet.

Aguilas started fast, and found the lead through a brilliant glancing header from Jun-yeong Park. Mendiola could have drawn level, but Nikko Arañas couldn’t find the net when he was let loose by Sentambule.

Instead, Aguilas found a second when Richard Talaroc’s ranged effort took an unfortunate heavy deflection off Tom Unsworth to take it past the impressive Kaede Kosaka.

It took just 3 minutes after the half time break for Aguilas to extend their lead, with Choi finishing well from close range, before fellow debutant Destiny Gandaho put the cherry on top with a brilliant finish.

Mendiola should not be too disheartened - they did have their chances but just failed to take them. Aguilas will be delighted however as they kick off the new season with 3 points and a clean sheet.

⚽️FULL TIME⚽️

A massive upset in the first match of the PFL season as Mendiola scored a late equaliser to deny Maharlika victory, in a hotly contested 1-1 draw.

It was a back and forth opening 40 minutes, with Mendiola defending well against repeated Maharlika incursions, whilst threatening through some wicked set piece deliveries by new signing Rhys Williams.

Maharlika looked fluid but couldn’t find a way through a new look Mendiola defence, and had to rely on a screamer of a goal from Jaehyeon Park to open the scoring, the midfielder running from the half way line before rifling into the top corner from 25 yards.

Maharlika dominated the second half, but couldn’t find a second goal. New striker Ren Nagmatsu may feel partially responsible for the draw, having let numerous chances go begging.

Mendiola’s back line excelled, with new keeper Kosaka particularly impressing, alongside the two centre backs of Bishop and Unsworth.

It was looking like Maharlika may escape punishment for their missed chances, but former player Yuya Kashibawara returned to haunt his former side, rifling a shot home from a tight angle after a swift counter to send the Mendiola fans home delighted.

A terrific opening match!

Aguilas UMak held onto 5th spot in the league in a highly entertaining 2-2 draw with Stallion Laguna.

Stallion opened the scoring with a rifled shot from range from Finn McDaniel, but Aguilas bounced back when Bryan Palpal-Latoc smashed in a glorious free-kick from miles out.

Terence Smith then put Stallion back in front when he bundled home from a free kick, but once again Aguilas hit back, this time through Kira Yamamoto after excellent work by Issa Diallo down the left hand side.

What a brilliant end to these sides’ seasons! A brilliant start to a massive day in the PFL.

⚽️FULL TIME⚽️

Manila Digger grabbed their first win of Round 3 against a Kaya side that was the most in form side in the league, running out resounding 3-0 victors.

The Diggers were on top and never looked like slowing down from the first minute, with Kaya almost immediately on the back foot as Digger rattled the post early on. They got their reward when Gai’s effort rebounded off the bar and bounced in, before the league top scorer made it 2-0 when he reacted fastest to Nishioka’s free kick.

Kaya looked to come back but struggled to break down a superbly organised Digger defence, as Badjie and Baas bossed the midfield.

Saikou Ceesay expertly converted from a swift counter to make sure of the points late on. This was a message to One Taguig ahead of their title clash next week, as the Diggers regain some momentum just at the right time.

⚽️FULL TIME⚽️

One Taguig stumbled yet again in this unbelievable title race as they drew 1-1 with an inspired Aguilas UMak side.

It looked like One Taguig had some of their spark back when Daisuke Sato headed home following a well worked set piece, his celebration a sign of the passion this team have. But once again they were the architects of their own misery, as a rare error from Čupić allowed Aguilas to get one back through Ibrahim Adamu.

One Taguig through everything but the kitchen sink at Aguilas looking for a winner, but their defence was sublime as Shiraoka and the rest of the Aguilas unit kept the title contenders frustrated.

The title race will go to the final day! What a season this is!

⚽️FULL TIME⚽️

Cebu and Stallion continued their winless runs in the Championship Round as they shared the points in an entertaining 1-1 draw.

Kazuha Sudo put Cebu ahead in the first half, powering a deflected effort just past the diving gloves of Yousuf Butt. The Gentle Giants had dominated the opening half and missed a few more chances to extend their lead.

Stallion roared back in the second half though, and found an equaliser through a hammered half volley from Kouichi Belgira. They almost took the lead as Ivanobski’s deflected effort bounced onto the bar and just evaded the flying header of Mountney.

Neither side could find a winner, although Cebu came closest at the death when Marius Koré’s effort narrowly went wide with the final kick of the game.

A superb way to start this Wednesday!
