Has anyone else had to use ProctorU and the Guardian Browser for an online exam? It seems kind of awful tbh. I never agreed to having a third party outside of NAIT have access to my personal desktop/recordings of me and my work. Also I have to unplug my second monitor from my computer in order to 'meet the requirements' which is a little infuriating (if my proctor has literal access to using my desktop I don't see why this is needed).
Maybe I'm just complaining about nothing, but this seems extremely excessive. No other proctoring services I have had to use have had this level of monitoring.
I just really don't appreciate the level of distrust toward students.

I was cheating on an honorlock exam and using chat, instead of clicking the camera i accidentally clicked the read out loud button of the answer below and obviously I freaked out. I read out loud for like maybe 10 seconds before I was able to turn the volume down. Am I cooked.... and for some reason my brain wasnt working and i looked away to turn the button down manually (where you swipe down and turn it down) instead of just using the volume buttons. But yeah someone tell me if I am cooked or not bc I am stressing.

So the exam isn’t on lockdown but the camera has to show your workspace and a little bit of your head I guess, any way past this?

So I proctored test coming up and I am planning to tape my phone against my screen which won’t be visible and also have my friend stand far away from me which won’t come in my camera view. She can take pictures by zooming and find answers on chat gpt and Text me . I will have my phone to no lock screen and leave it open on her text msgs. She can keep sending me answers and I can read it as I am viewing the screen. I will have to scan the room but I will give exam in my open kitchen. We don’t don’t have to thoroughly. I will tell her to hide and mark her spot to stand exactly where she won’t be visible from my screen . How is my plan

I take my exam in person, and my instructor does not use the camera on lockdown browser. I turned my computer settings to where if I close my laptop, it will not shut off. I logged into lockdown browser and tested it while not take a quiz and it never kicked me out but the only thing I'm worried about is that it would flag that my display tuned off. I was planning to close my laptop and act like I turned it in then walking down the hall and chat gpt it. Should I try it?

get some sticky notes and make cheat sheets, stick them around the bezel of your screen in a way that they won't lean down too far and show up on camera (my method for that was stick the note down then use another one on the back as a brace of sorts). the one i was stuck with wasn't focusing on eye movement so as long as i didn't blatantly move my head and read my notes i was golden

We use a lockdown browser for exams. Saw a kid today using windows+tab to switch desktops. This allowed them to move between the lockdown screen on one desktop and a ChatGPT on another desktop.

Idk if tech can disable this “feature” but it’s wonderful to learn on the last day of finals…

After quite a lot of research into finding a program that seemed right for me, I finally settled on WGU. Everything went swimmingly until…Guardian browser. Aw hell no!! First off, I use Linux, it’s not even an option but that thing isn’t something I’d even let on my network let alone my computer.

Hello! I was wondering if I was going to get a misconduct allegation due to a device near me speaking out loud (all it said was hello…). I’m not sure if it’s because I accidentally touched something as I reached out my arm or if it was reading a notification out loud. For reference I had my phone in a cubby away from me (as seen in the recording due to needing to pull it out to call exam helps). Throughout the rest of the video it was quiet with me focused and occasional noises outside (due to living in a dorm) and my loud typing/ clicking. I’ve been panicking because I don’t want them to think I was cheating 😢. I only needed 7 marks in the exam out of 50 to pass the class… why would I cheat…

The Guardian Browser is an absolute nightmare and I need to vent.

Had to take a health gen ed exam today — 40 questions, should've been done in under an hour. Instead I spent almost 3 hours on the phone with tech support (3 separate calls) and never even got to take the exam. Had to reschedule and just eat the wasted time.

To make it worse, this class shouldn't even be in my degree plan. The program updated right as I was starting and added it — I would've knocked it out on Sophia no problem. So not only am I stuck taking a class I didn't plan for, I can't even get the exam to work.

This isn't even my first bad experience with Guardian. The first time I used it was already subpar, so I had low expectations going in. Still somehow managed to disappoint.

Anyone else consistently having issues with this browser? Is there a workaround that actually works or are we all just suffering together?

Not the biggest life-changer, but I did a little testing: if you pin a tab in Safari and GoGuardian (the school version) activates, it won’t block the site or display the "you shouldn't be browsing here" message. This method also works for YouTube; if you search for something, it will still process the request.

The only downside is that it constantly opens new tabs. I think that’s why the glitch works: GoGuardian detects the site and thinks, "Hey, he shouldn't be on YouTube, so let's redirect him." However, when a pinned tab is redirected, it opens the new URL in a completely different tab instead of the pinned one.

As shameful as it is from the perspective of some people. I don’t dispose of too much time lately and having to restart the whole game when a strategy doesn’t work or I didn’t got the ending I wanted is starting to wear me off to say it lightly.

Admittedly, that’s what attracted me to these genre of game at the beginning.

The option of editing stats also doesn’t seem to work for me. I can click inspect and go to console but the only thing that appears is a series of errors and warning messages.

It also doesn’t let me to implement code. Giving me a message of “don’t implement code that you don’t know or is verified”.

I will appreciate anyone help at this point.
