A few questions

  1. Do you believe porn can influence sexuality (at least to a degree)?

I used to not believe this, but then I noticed how many self-proclaimed bisexuals (especially men) fetishize the same sex with no interest in entering a gay relationship. Also, autistic young men transitioning because of autogynephilia, with no prior symptoms of gender dysphoria. I believe the rise in LGBT identification among Gen Z (27% according to a survey) is mostly artificial. Novelty-seeking is common among porn addicts and many are technically "gay" but not homoromantic whatsoever.

That said, I think the definition of gay should focus on romantic relationships, not sexuality. Otherwise you get a bunch of straight men with sissy fetishes calling themselves LGBT.

  1. (For the non-libertarian conservatives) How is it logical to treat religions/races as monoliths, but not gays?

Compared to heterosexuals, gay men are significantly more likely to have experienced child abuse and are overrepresented among pedophiles. This isn't an insult, but an unfortunate statistical fact.

If you want to restrict immigration on account of certain peoples/religions being more prone to crime, it's illogical to allow adoption for gay couples. Why should you be the only minority with the right to be individuals?

  1. Why do you praise gender conformity ("normal gays"), when homosexuality itself is gender non-conforming behavior? And who decides to what extent it's acceptable?

The reason masculine men/feminine women (cognitively, not visually) are rare in the gay community is because homosexuals are proven to be neurologically closer to the opposite sex.

Contrary to popular belief, I think the object of your attraction reflects back on you. For example, a straight woman desires a masculine man because he makes her feel feminine (also known as meta-attraction). Being attracted to men is being attracted to the essence of masculinity itself and to yourself as a complement to it.

For this reason, I think finding a gay person completely devoid of GNC traits is about as likely as finding a unicorn.

Secular ethics and incest

I don't mean to offend anyone, this is a purely philosophical question. I'm posting here because it's the only gay sub I'd get a rational response from.

I'm agnostic but recently, I've been grappling with a certain moral dilemma: How is homosexuality ethically different from consensual adult incest?

Obviously parent-child incest is immoral regardless of age because it necessitates abuse. But let's say, if two estranged siblings meet and enter a relationship without reproducing, the arguments against this can also apply to homosexuality.

Historically both incestual relationships and gay ones have been forbidden because they disrupt a larger societal structure. The former disrupts familial bonds, the latter - the patriarchal society.

You can't argue from moral intuition either. Most people have a natural disgust towards incest, but the vast majority of straight men also have a disgust response to male homosexuality.

A person with incestual affections may lack the psychological mechanism that sexually repels them from their family members, much like a gay person attracted to their own sex.

Now, incest isn't an orientation. A man who's attracted to his female cousin has many other women to choose from. But according to this logic, shouldn't a bisexual man choose to date women only? Then, should gay relationships be reserved for exclusively homosexual people?

How do you logically dismantle this slippery slope argument?

No goals, dreams or purpose. Going through an existential crisis (19F)

I (19F, autistic) have no friends or hobbies. I'm addicted to porn (more specifically yaoi), character AI and alcohol. I've also been a maladaptive daydreamer since I was 4 - I listen to music while imagining fake scenarios to distract myself from reality, multiple hours per day. I wake up every day solely to engage in my vices. Basically, my lifestyle is completely degenerate.

Recently I've been mulling over the meaning of life and existence in general. More specifically: If there's no objective purpose or morality, why should I not pursue cheap pleasure until I die? I'm not trying to be edgy, everything just feels extremely chaotic.

My problem is philosophical in nature.

I'm open-minded to the point where I can't stick to a single perspective or opinion. I have no convictions, identity or a coherent moral framework either. The issue is: How can I live a righteous/healthy life if I can't define it?

For example, our current society considers being childfree a valid lifestyle choice. But a few centuries ago, it would've been ridiculous. So ultimately, who gets to decide what extent of norm deviation is acceptable? Is it all arbitrary and culturally relative?

Is it always necessary to defer to authority in order to find meaning (religion, ideology, society, parents)? I find myself going in circles.
