Route from Pasir Ris to Buona Vista

Hello! As I am lucky enough to have a slow period at work, I would like to try cycling from home to work one day (Pasir Ris to Buona Vista).

Does anyone have any suggestions on the best route? I am okay to ride on the road but would prefer not to due to the morning traffic. Currently, I am considering taking the Lorong Halus bridge all the way to Hougang area, but I am lost after that.

I am also open to waking up really early to start my journey. It will be good if I can reach Buona Vista before 10.30am.

Thank you so much! 😊

What extent are you willing to leave your bike unattended (but locked)?

Hi everyone, I just got a road bike and I want to use it to cycle to dinner (get some exercise in). However even cycling to hawker centres will require me to lock my bike somewhere (visible or not) to queue up to get food and eat before cycling home.

I am wondering about the general community, what is your tolerance to leaving your bike unattended (locked or not, visible or not, for how long, what kind of bike?)

Happy to hear and get feedback 😊 thanks!

Edit: thank you so much everyone for the replies! Unfortunately due to the rain today I didn’t manage to cycle. And Decathlon didn’t sell the U-lock i wanted. Maybe tomorrow!

Best path from Loyang to Changi Village

Hello, I am looking for tips on the best cycling route from Loyang PCN to Changi Village. I have cycled this route multiple times and found that the pavement was extremely bumpy and not very good for cycling. Furthermore, I think there are works recently to trim the trees, making it even harder to cycle.

I am wondering if the only other option is cycling on the road? It seems that the cars like to drive at extremely fast speeds on that road.

I have circled the exact route here. Thank you! 😊

Taking care of road bike tips?

hello! maybe you remember me from this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/SingaporeCycling/s/YGvVBiBqQk

i am happy to say that i have bought a road bike, pretty excited to start this new journey :D

I am wondering how riders usually take care of their bikes, for example: a wipe down after every ride?

Furthermore, what are the essentials (for safety) that you bring along with every ride (eg. Spare tube?)

Thank you!! :)

road bike, gravel bike, or other alternatives?

hello! I have been cycling on a mountain bike around Singapore, longest distance being about 80+km in one ride. I really enjoy cycling and I cycle mostly on PCNs and pavements, only ever cycled on the road during the NTU Bike Rally.

now I am keen to buy a road bike, but I was wondering if cyclists in Singapore mostly use a road bike or gravel bike. it is a large expense so i am considering my options before deciding to buy a bike.

please let me know your suggestions and thank you 😄

Edit: thanks everyone for the really really helpful suggestions! i really appreciate it! May i know how easy it is to get into cycling on the road (as someone who has predominantly cycled on PCN)? Thanks!!
