Is it common to call your grandma “Mommy Lola”

I’m not Filipino, my husband is half Filipino. We are having our first baby and his mom insists her grandma name be “mommy Lola” the mommy part rubs me the wrong way, as I plan to go by mommy/mama to my baby. Why not just Lola? Is this a norm in the culture?
