Roast my Sicily Itinerary (two people, 10 days in September) please

Hey guys, as someone who has never been to Sicily, I'd love any feedback from people who live there or have been there previously can give me! We are renting a car and are into doing the whole tour of the Island. We like beaches, pools, cool cities and natural scenes. We'd like visiting an ancient temple or perhaps an unmissable museum as well.

We're still not sure whether we want to just get a few bases to return to every day or keep changing spots, but our rough draft is this :

  • 9th Sept - Arrive in Palermo at night (Hotel in Palermo)
  • 10th Sept - Explore and walk around Palermo
  • 11th Sept - Get in a car and head eastwards to Cefalú in the evening (Hotel in Cefalu)
  • 12th Sept (Saturday) - Beach time in Cefalú, then head to Taormina (Hotel in Cefalu)
  • 13th Sept (Sunday) - Beach time and walk around Taormina, then go for the Mount Etna climb (Hotel around Etna)
  • 14th Sept - Head down towards Syracuse and explore, possibly spend some time at the beach (Hotel in Syracuse)
  • 15th Sept - Head to Noto/Modica/Ragusa, and walk around (Hotel in one of these cities)
  • 16th Sept - Explore some more then go to Agrigento, possibly visiting Villa Romana del Casale in the interim. Beach time and Scala dei Turchi (Hotel near Agrigento)
  • 17th Sept - Head towards Marsala, maybe walk around in vineyards and have a wine tasting/dinner (Hotel around Marsala)
  • 18th September - From Marsala head towards Zingaro Reserve, then San Vito lo Capo (Hotel in San Vito lo Capo)
  • 19th September - (Saturday) - Head back to Palermo Airport to drop off the car and take off towards home around noon.

Is it too busy? Are there skippable things that we might cut in order to get some more relaxing time in beaches? Are there unmissable locations we've cut out?

Any feedback is a gift.

Thanks!
