Getting my little guy a buddy
Hi, first time budgie owner. Charley (the budgie in the picture) is a roughly 8 month old male with what can only be described as a bit of sass. I have been thinking lately about getting him a friend because I’ve noticed that he’s been a lot more hormonal and aggressive, I’ve got him all the sleep and rearrange his cage etc but there isn’t anything that seems to be working. I was told from the place I got him from that he’d live perfectly fine alone but I’m starting to disagree. He spends a lot of time in his cage with capital radio as company while I’m not home but I try to get him out asap when I get home for as long as possible.
He’s really bonded to me, will preen my hair, kiss my nose, sprint around my shoulders, and accept nose rubs. So I’m slightly worried that by getting him a friend I might loose that. And I don’t know how to go about introducing them properly. There’s so many what if’s and things I am thinking about and I can’t just tell if I’m overthinking this slightly or what.
How do I stop this hormonal stuff? It’s particularly toward my tv remote and PlayStation controller which can be funny but annoying when I’m trying to use it and he bites me.
And should I get him a friend? If so what do I do about introducing them and what type of budgie do I get him? (Age, behaviour type, gender etc)
