I’ve hiked the trail from the Fern Lake trailhead and was stopped by snow right before Fern Falls. I’ve also hiked it from Bear Lake, and got to Lake Helene before being stopped by snow. Next time I try Fern Lake, which way should I try again? I’m thinking the upper route, but not sure if Fern Falls is a must-see or if there’s anything else I don’t know about between the falls and the lake.
