TL;DR: My neighbour installed a private CCTV camera near the lift that appears to record my flat entrance and daily entry/exit. They also use observations about my movements to complain to the society. Is this legal, and how can I get it repositioned or removed?

I’m 25 M and live in an apartment society in Mansarovar, Jaipur.
One of my neighbours has installed a CCTV camera in the common area near the lift. The camera appears to cover my flat entrance and the passage I use, so it records whenever I enter or leave and whenever someone visits me.
The neighbour has also referred to my movements while making complaints about me to the society management. This is making me feel constantly watched in my own residential building.

As far as I know, this is not an official society CCTV camera. I also do not know:
- Whether the society or RWA gave permission for it
- Whether it records audio
- Who has access to the footage
- How long the recordings are stored
- Whether the camera can be repositioned to cover only the neighbour’s own entrance

Can an individual resident legally install and personally control a CCTV camera in a common area like this? Is it legal for the camera to continuously record another resident’s entrance, visitors, and daily movements?

What should I do first—send a written complaint to the society/RWA, ask for the camera to be repositioned, approach the police, or consult a lawyer?
