Is there an air controller shortages?

Message coming from the US. I fly regularly and lately I’ve been experiencing more flights being delayed, being grounded on the tarmac because air traffic is being limited in certain airports.

I’ve heard this reason now repeatedly and I am curious what is causing this. I’ve heard repeatedly that air controllers are stretched thin and burnt out. I’m wondering if all these delays have to do with staffing shortages. And if anything is being done about this or this is the new normal of travel in the US.

(Sorry for the typo in the title. Cannot edit)
