Bad omens’ dying to love = spiritbox's circle with me
The trope of being a famous rockstar carries the harsh weight of an insidious curse. The duality of loss (self, mental health, friends, family experiences) in order to gain. BO conveyed these ideas perfectly with TDOPOM, and Dying to Love is another installment of this concept.
“Well, I've been dying to love, dying to love, dying to love”
“One more second's enough, second to love, second to love
The spectrum of emotions that a "creator" experiences when doing something from sheer passion that has become all-encompassing. The constant battle with anxiety due to decisions that significantly influence the world surrounding them (i.e., lifestyle, inner circle, friends, family). The looming fear of not being able to deliver. Coupled with the silent desire to give it all up and still be perceived as good enough (ie, personal fulfillment).
My connection with SP “circle with me” & BO “dying to love” lyrics
| Dying to love | Circle with me |
|---|---|
| “Well, I've been dying to love, dying to love, dying to love”****“One more second's enough, second to love, second to love | When birds of prey invade my thoughts They promise I will feel the pain Not strong enough to hold the flame Negative feedback loop |
| Stepping stones that bloody your feet Sirens holding flowers of teeth They call your name from ivory streets But heaven isn't quite what it seems | This could all be yoursFeel the weight of a martyrIt could all be yours if you echo birds of preyTraitor cut down the altarIt could all be yours |
| They circle over the stainAnd my essence's slipping awayWaiting their turn for aTasteTasteSo tell me how does it taste? And was it all worth the wait?So was it worth what it takes? | Vultures circling the flameFeel the weight of a martyrA traitor watching me as birds of prey never falterThis could all be yoursThis could all be yoursCircle with me |
The rockstar culture invites vultures to squander every ounce of resources from the "creator" for a profit that only suits their control and motives, reducing the "creator" down to a ghost/specter...
Just showing my love and slight hyperfixation with these two artists!! I'm probably so far off, but it was fun to do. Does anyone want to share their lyrical analysis of Dying to Love "?
