Post op recovery diet

Does anybody have good information on trimal ORIF post op recovery diet, like how much protein to eat to support healthy recovery. I am quite overweight but also have decent amount of muscles from years of weight training (98 kilos, 162.5 cms). Unfortunately my hospital didn’t provide any post op recovery plan, so I’m stuck with a lot of questions. Appreciate any advice!

Fitness tips

Before I had my trimal fracture 2 weeks ago, I was on a fitness roll. 3 times a week cardio and weight training. Now because of the recent fracture and post op recovery, I will be spending a lot of time on the bed. I am also hungrier than usual, no surprise, I eat well for recovery. However, I do wish to resume some kind of (sitting) fitness routine soon that will help me lose weight. I was wondering if anyone here has a fitness and nutrition tips to manage weight loss alongside recovery. Any good references to wheelchair workouts?

Mental impact

I am 3 days post op (ORIF) for my trimal fracture. I’m glad that its finally behind me, but I still find it hard to deal with the mental aspect of things. In some moments I am fine, in many others I am a mess. I was wondering about the general experiences of people here and how can one deal with such situation.

Anesthesiologist only prescribed me Oxycodone for 3 days post op. Is that enough pain medication?

I have been in terrible pain since my ankle ORIF operation 1.5 days ago. When the nerve block wore off the pain was extreme and I couldn’t sleep and had to stick to the schedule. I saw that my anesthesiologist only prescribed me oxycodone until tomorrow midday (for a total of 3 days post op). Is that enough pain medication? Is that standard?

ORIF surgery in 3 days. Freaking out a bit…

My surgery got scheduled earlier than expected because of the surgeon’s availability. Now I’m freaking out about it. How is the pain post op? How long does it hurt?

Before surgery update: Guys, heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you who took the time to respond back. I’m sorry I haven’t responded to everyone individually but your respective comments have put me so much more at ease before the surgery. I’m truly grateful for all the people who put in the effort to help me out in this situation. I hope and pray that all of y’all are recovering well ❤️

Best ankle surgeon(s) in the Netherlands?

I had an unfortunate accident a week ago which caused me a trimalleolar fracture, and I require ORIF surgery. Was wondering if anybody went through this and has referrals to an experienced surgeon who deals with these kind of cases.

Trimal fracture with dislocation. Surgery in a week. Mental health in shambles.

All summer plans cancelled. Chained to bed. Difficultly in forgiving myself for the accident that caused the fracture. Difficulty sleeping every night because I can’t stop overthinking about potential future issues with arthritis and constant flashbacks of the accident. Scared to go outside on the wheelchair for uncertainties. Have a supportive boyfriend around me, but hate being a burden on him.

TW: Flashbacks

I’m curious if some of y’all have faced repeated flashbacks around the accident, and if you can share some wisdom around managing it. My apologies to anyone if the question doesn’t land right.

I tried using crutches, and it is extremely difficult for me. I can’t balance my whole body weight. Thinking of wheelchairs and knee-scooters. Wondering if folks in/were a similar situation, how did recovery look like for you?

I see that max recovery time written everywhere is 3-6 months. However I keep reading that it could take up to a year on this subreddit. Do people have optimistic stories?

I was trying on heels and took a wrong step, and in one go broke my right foot’s both sides of my ankles (bimalleolar fractures). All this before summer, and now I’ll be bed ridden forever
