Pregnancy before starting postdoc

How challenging would it be to get pregnant right before starting my postdoc? My understanding is that Texas may allow some of my practicum hours to count toward the supervised experience requirements. If those hours are accepted, I might only need about six months of full-time postdoc work, which could mean finishing my required hours approximately one month before delivering.

However, I’m trying to think ahead. If those hours aren’t accepted and I need to complete a longer postdoc, how would pregnancy and maternity leave affect that process? Could it negatively affect my training or future career opportunities?

I understand that pregnancy can bring unexpected complications, although my previous two pregnancies were uncomplicated. I’m also in my late twenties, so age isn’t a major concern for me right now. My main concern is understanding the potential impact on my training and career so I can make an informed decision.

Considering both of forensic and neuropsych postdoc.

Where to recruit participants for free?

Where is the best place to advertise on social media to recruit participants for free? I’ve already done it locally and having trouble securing about 200 more participants. Anyone have groups they suggest? I’ve done the swap research groups too 😞

Experience with Hereditary Multiple Exostoses (HME) and pain management suggestions

Insurance has really gotten in the way of finding a pain management physician who accepts my insurance. I've been trying for about six months without much success.

At age 27, I started experiencing significant lower back pain on my right side. That eventually led to the discovery of a large labral tear and the need for PAO surgery. During that process, I underwent genetic testing and was diagnosed with an EXT2 mutation. While I do not have obvious visible deformities, I definitely experience pain and fatigue. When I say I feel 60 years old, I genuinely mean it.

My question is: what treatments have been most effective for managing pain related to HME/EXT2? I suspect I may have two osteochondromas on my spine, and I still have several on my pelvis that may be contributing to my symptoms. As I'm writing this, my back is hurting.

What would you recommend as the next step?
For context, I do have an orthopedic surgeon for my hip and another physician who follows me for the EXT2 diagnosis, but I've been unhappy with that care. I felt dismissed and was essentially told to do nothing. Personally, I would like updated MRIs and further evaluation, so I'm currently trying to find a specialist with experience in HME/EXT2 who also accepts my insurance.

At this point, the pain has become so difficult to manage that I have found myself relying on medications such as hydrocodone and oxycodone (self medicating from PAO surgery—- not taking daily and not addicted) at times just to get through the day, which is not a long-term solution and is one of the reasons I am seeking appropriate pain management care.

Ps. I was diagnosed with EXT2 gene Dec of 2025 (this is all still very new and the doc I saw for this, I’ve only seen him once).

Seeking a neuropsych fellowship (2 years) with NON-APA school

Unfortunately, I made the wrong choice years ago and attended an APA-equivalent (rather than APA-accredited) doctoral program. At the time, I didn't realize my long-term career goal would be neuropsychology, and now I'm running into challenges finding a postdoctoral fellowship that would provide the kind of 2-year neuropsychology training I'm seeking.

At this point, I'm not focused on board certification—I mainly want the training, experience, and expertise needed to conduct neuropsychological evaluations competently and build a career in the field.

Does anyone know of neuropsychology fellowships, postdoctoral training programs, private practices, hospitals, or other opportunities that may consider graduates from non-APA-accredited programs? I am willing to relocate! Any resources, suggestions, or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated!

I am willing to send my CV as well!

Edit: goal is to be able to conduct all assessments and do some legal work. Although I have no experience with Alzheimer’s, dementia etc., that is where my passion lies. I have experience with TBI, general, and criminal populations—- comment below with tests I use/ learning
