[BC] full focus on SEO in AI visibility hype era - double down or ditch it?
I’m a co-founder of a bootstrapped B2B SaaS from Van, BC, we build inspection software for construction crews. We’re lean, and our marketing budget is a bit tight. The conventional wisdom screams "SEO is mandatory," but my team’s Gen Z interns literally skip Google - they get vendor recs straight from Claude and Perplexity, and every time I see it I'm kinda confused.
Is climbing traditional rankings still a legitimate growth lever in strategic perspective, or just an expensive ego boost now? Should we pivot our blog strategy toward “AI-bait” content designed to feed LLM crawlers, or is that just modern snake oil that will be actual only for couple of years (max)? I see "AI visibility" tactics floating around EVERYWHERE, but they feel like wild guesses and ngl I don't trust them lot.
I’m stuck between protecting our legacy backlinks and experimenting with generative engine optimization stuff. Any advice here? TY
