Chapter 51 discussion thread

Some of our questions about 182 and 181 were answered! I was on the edge of my seat while reading, and now, as always, I'm extremely excited for the next episode

182 and 181 shared such a beautiful friendship, it was truly special and heartwarming. Knowing 181's fate is heartbreaking, but I still hope she will return or at least she'll somehow be able to communicate with 182

And now it looks like R.R. is actually number 183? Does this number mean he's also a fog-born? Or does it mean something different? Maybe he was a part of the program but not a fog-born child?

Why did Hairen look so concerned while eavesdropping Dante and 182's conversation? Was he worried about the subject of fog-born people? Or was it something else?

What do you guys think of this chapter? Do you have any new theories? I would very much like to read your thoughts

Dante and Gonzales (ep.47)

I think there was a chance to keep Gonzales safe. When Dante found out that Gonzales wasn't actually a monster, he should have come up with a plan. Here's what I think Dante should have done: he should have asked Gonzales to stay and assist in beating up the guard. Surely, it wouldn't be hard for Gonzales. Then, Dante and Gonzales would leave the building and Dante would yell to stop the fight while holding Gonzales in his arms (like in episode 41). That way, Gonzales would be save because Hairen and 182 would hesitate, being afraid of accidentally shooting Dante. Hairen, 182 and Nico would all be kind of puzzled for a moment, and that buys Dante some time to quickly explain that there's no need to fight and they can negotiate. Dante does know how to make fog, after all. If only he stopped the fight, they could have worked on it together, all 4 of them, and then the main trio could say goodbye to Nico or take him with them

It could have been great, and knowing that the safe outcome's no longer possible is kind of killing me

Shoulders sequence

So, we know that the narrative in Fogland follows a certain pattern. First, Dante sees the Shoulders in prologue, attempts to teach them, fails, and then gets kidnapped by 182. After being imprisoned, Dante is determined to find an exit, and during his journey the Shoulders are introduced to him one by one. First, the Tower, then Drill Head, then Bone Eater, all three of them dying after meeting the main cast (Dante, Hairen and 182). And now, it's Fuzzyback, his fate is yet to be known, but I sure hope he doesn't die

As readers, we see them through Dante's eyes. He recognises every single one of them. Every time Dante sees a Shoulder, one of his first thoughts usually is: "He was in my class". Therefore, it seems that Dante is eventually going to meet every single person that was in that class (except D-Dot, may he rest in peace) and interact with them, it's only a matter of time

And right now, there are four Shoulders that Dante never met outside of class. There are two men who's names we don't know yet, then there's the Faceless and The Hound.

Also, there's Kali. Obviously, she never attended Dante's class, but I have a feeling that the main trio is destined to run into her eventually

In what order do you think these mentioned Shoulders are going to be introduced to Dante?

I genuinely thought he was the MC

When I first found out about Fog Land, it was from a Webtoon ad that looked like this pic from above ⬆️

There were also some words on it, something like: "You think it's a sweet potato? Nah, it's a guy that can literally drill through the ground by using his head" After I saw that picture, I thought that the whole manhwa was going to be about this drill head man, so when I started reading I was sure that everything else is a set-up to introduce Drill Head as the actual main character. He even lashed out at Dante in class after hearing "sweet potato", and it convinced me even more that from that moment the story was going to be about him.

Obviously, I was mistaken. However, I kept believing that up until chapter 7, I honestly don't know why but at the moment it somehow seemed logical just because I saw him in a webtoon ad, and it's kinda funny

Dante theory

Hi, everyone! I want to share my Fog Land theory. There might be mistakes in my text as English is not my native language, so I'm sorry in advance

My theory is that Dante is going to lose an eye. So, we know that his fog ability has already manifested. However, his talent is most likely not strong enough because Dante hasn't consumed fog yet. And knowing Dante, he would never willingly eat fog unless it's an emergency. Still, he does rely on his newly acquired power and isn't afraid to use it.

I think that as the plot progresses, Dante will continue using his "fog sight" and avoid consuming fog, relying on this weaker version of his power so that he wouldn't get too addicted after actually tasting the drug. The fact that he won't use his talent to the full potential might backfire in future dangerous situations that would most likely require Dante to fight to the fullest. A future enemy could somehow deduct that Dante is using his talent only by relying on his right eye. And after realising that, the enemy might just decide to get rid of Dante's eye and violently cut it out during a fight. That would leave him completely powerless

If Dante's friends are also in danger (and they most likely will be), he'll have no other choice but to consume fog in order to get his powers back and save everyone he cares about
